I've been dining at the provincial several times and it's never to impress. the service can sometimes be a little slow, but the decor is relaxed and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. the prices are reasonable and the portions generous, and all I have tried was a hit, especially the ceviche, ripen and chicken stew. While I was a bit skeptical at our first visit, I was quickly convinced after I had taken up the food and tried. in any case a popular place in brixton and worth a visit if they are in the opposite.
My wife had been here before and really enjoyed it so we decided to give it a go. We arrived quite early. Even so the interior was full bar one table which we bagged. There was a good selection of Tapas which were mainly Spanish and main courses were South American. We shared the chorizo in wine, ham croquettes and the cod fish cakes in a ginger sauce. The lamb was wonderful and the chips the best I have eaten in years large and crisp and golden. My wife had the pork belly with rice which was (almost) as good. My youngest daughter had the pulled pork which...read more
Well what can I say. Having gone to The Provincial with some work colleagues of mine, we were set for a nice night enjoying some very traditional dishes. However, upon ordering our food, two of us received out tapas orders and began eating. We were then approached by the waiter which told us that there was no more steak available so two people clearly had to go hungry!! when the owner was approached by a Spanish colleague of mine, the two began going back and forth and the owner stated there was no complaint book, that nothing will be given for free (which we did not...read more
Hands down my favourite place in Brixton. Amid the polished yuppieness of Brixton Village is this straight forward BYO restaurant serving bumper portions of top quality dishes. Am confident everything on the menu is decent (don't let my shoddy pictures be an indication of taste) though the sea food plate (glorious chips) the Perivian rice dish stand out. Ace all round.
