Since moving to Buford, we have eaten here a few times. Always excellent service and great food!
I found this place by accident, really. Just moved to the area. I can 't express how much love you feel from the people who frequent this cafe, and from the owner herself, Ms. Kim. I ordered her homemade pies, and she made them for me overnight from scratch. Her sweet tea is ridiculously delicious. The ice cream is the absolute best you can buy, she gets it from Mooresville Ice Cream- I have issues with dairy and ice cream, but I can eat their ice cream for some strange reason- so it 's the only ice cream I buy. So glad she has it there. If you are new to South Carolina, or are just passing through, I don 't care where you are going, you will miss out on what South Carolina is all about if you pass up the opportunity to place Buford Variety Stop Cafe in your Navigation/GPS. I 'll tell you what it 's like- as a kid hanging with my grandmother in Kentucky, she would take me to her store on the corner. There were toys, snacks, treats, pops (sodas) of all kinds, and there was this distinctive feeling of southern comfort and charm that places like Cracker Barrel attempt to emulate. I can tell you there is nothing like the real, authentic thing- feeling like you belong somewhere and you are part of this huge family of strangers who certainly don 't treat you like strangers. Ms. Kim is Southern Comfort and Charm wrapped up in your kindred 's embrace. Her Cafe reflects that feeling of welcome, and makes you want to stay awhile, even if you are just stopping by to grab a quick cone, or maybe browse the many cute knick-knacks everywhere for sale that remind you of a time not too long ago when everything was far more simple, delectable candy could be had for just a couple of pieces of coin, and gas cost just around a buck a gallon. Kids played outside running through sprinklers in the backyard, and smashed a quarter of a watermelon in one sitting out on the porch. That was life when I was a kid, and these are the warm memories Ms. Kim makes sure you remember- and feel- every time you step through her breezeway. Her Cafe makes sure you never forget what it is to be Southern. And for those who aren 't from the South, she lets you know what it truly feels like to be home. I pray that GOD continues to bless her and I personally thank her for what she brings to the community.
My motorcycle group happened upon this little Cafe by chance we needed a rest stop realized quickly we had found a great place for us! It's close enough to make it a lunch stop from Charlotte, yet far enough to make it a fun bike ride! The food is all homemade, therefore so very tasty. Breakfast is served any time of day, a banana split makes an excellent lunch choice, as well! We now ride back often, feeling very welcome, enjoy great food, service, value!
So good, and so close to my house! Very good breakfast!!
