Le Pré Vert - Lannemezan

We went after the golf next door and had a very nice 2-course menu, steak for the carnivores, omelette for the veggies.

Le Pre Vert has two restaurants, one I call the every day food, reasonably price good food and the Gourmet restaurant that has more up Market and expensive Menu also excellent food.. Service when busy, most lunch times, tends to be on the slow side....In the summer there is a view over the Golf course and the Pyrenees in the distance.

We decided to go the Pre Vert as it was a lovely evening and the restaurant looks out onto the golf course and beyond to the mountains of the Pyrenees. We therefore sat outside but were surprised to see the plastic and canvas weather screens...in place and worse still there was a large canvas strip half a metre wide directly at head height making it impossible to see anything at all. When the owner came out to take our order I asked him if he could raise the screen where we were sat so that we could see the view and get some fresh air. He refused to do so saying that it got very cold after 9 PM. In my opinion he couldnt be bothered to make the effort. I find it extraordinary that the customers these days seems less important than the people they are providing with an income.We should have left at that point but in the end had a reasonable meal at 20 euros per head excluding wine despite the menu having never changed in the last 10 years. As a footnote, it certainly did not get even remotely cold later on.

Always reliable good standard of food. Well presented, good choice, and value for money set menus. We enjoy both the casual dining experience of the lunchtime brasserie and the elegant dining in the restaurant. Presentation and quality has so far been maintained on a regular...basis.

Called lunch at the Lannemezan Golf Club, which is in a wonderful environment and in summer must be fabulous. But with a grey and cloudy November sky his beauty was hidden. We sat in what I thought was the clubhouse of the Golf Club, but... is indeed a separate restaurant. There were certainly varied menu choice, and it was quite full and obviously popular in there. The comfort and cleanliness was fine, and the piece size re cost was average, although the payment €7 for a bottle of Chateldon water seemed excessive. Unfortunately, my steak was quite 'tough', which I put on the quality of the meat itself, instead of how it was cooked, which otherwise looked good and imaginable. Consequently, it wasn't the best lunch I had. A place to visit again, and hopefully with another selection from the menu, lead to a better review brand.
