Delicious, local food, well prepared while we were waiting, being the only visitors on a Wesnesday evening.... In between the many courses the children would run out to play with the kittens and the young puppies and when we left we were given eggs home made which we will enjoy for breakfast.... Grazie a Daniela and Danilo for making our last evening in Italy so special!
While on vacation in Italy four of us went to dinner at the rifugio on a Tuesday in April to celebrate a birthday. The experience, from the moment we arrived at the gate, until we left almost three hours later, was outstanding. The atmosphere, the food, and the amazing openness and friendliness of Danilo and Daniela made for our best evening in Italy. It really was a perfect evening. If you are ever anywhere near Lanuvio and don't make it to the kitchen and dining room, which makes you feel like special guests in a welcoming home, you are missing an amazing opportunity. I wish we could have made it again, and will spend a long, long time hoping to find our way back. Great people, great food, great experience. Thank you Danilo and Daniela,
We went there for dinner and once arrived were greeted with a very warm welcome by the two owners. It's a little hidden gem close to Lanuvio where the ambiance has been created very carefully to create a wonderful warm looking and romantic environment. We were sitting close to the fireplace with a view into the kitchen which is behind a bar counter. The Starters looked beautiful and everything was arranged with plenty of care. The pasta dish was the height of the meal, Pappardelle with a courgettes and bacon sauce, a very tasteful and rustic dish. The main consist of two very thin slices of pork meat in a tomato cream sauce. After that we got a fruit basket and also a desert plate with a delicious chocolate cake, a little slice of shop board Crostata cake, an unfortunately watered down Vinsanto and a slightly soggy Ciambella. I feel slightly bad about making bad comments of the food because I can see how much effort the two put into the whole experience, but I honestly think that the food did not live up to our expectations. And the price for two for almost €50 seemed a little high also taking into consideration a bottle of (probably home made) vino that was also a bit disappointing. But I am sure we will come again in summer and give it another try.
