The service was equally impressive, also receiving a 5 out of 5. The atmosphere was fantastic, matching the excellence of the food and service with another solid 5 out of 5. Highly recommended!
First off, the quaint little house and its somewhat vintage, rustic ambiance are charming. We were greeted and seated promptly. The menu is extensive, with many appealing options. I ordered the combination fajitas, while my daughter opted for the shredded beef enchiladas. The chips and salsa were quite enjoyable; the salsa had a nice flavor with a bit of heat at the end. Just a heads up: the first bowl of chips is complimentary, but after that, it's $2.50 per bowl, and they won’t mention the charge unless you inquire. While we noticed that in the menu, they still quickly offer more chips (which, of course, we wanted, but not at an extra cost). Our food took a little while to arrive, but it wasn't excessively long. Unlike many other places, the fajitas actually came out sizzling, which was a nice touch. There wasn't a large amount of meat, and the portions were somewhat sparse; however, both the steak and chicken were flavorful, and along with the peppers, onions, homemade guacamole, condiments, and rice and beans (which were acceptable), it amounted to a satisfying meal. I did remember to take a picture of the sides but inexplicably forgot to photograph the fajitas. How did that happen? Keep in mind that they charge for any substitutions. Even though I omitted sour cream and a few other items, they added a $1.50 charge for an extra scoop of guacamole. My daughter found the enchiladas to be decent—not the best she’s had, but certainly not the worst. I suspect she’d be open to trying something different if we decide to return. For dessert, we shared an order of sopapillas. They were cooked perfectly and had delicious flavor, though they were surprisingly salty, which may have been due to a mix-up in the batter where sugar and cinnamon should have been. Still, combined with the other flavors and honey, they weren't too bad in the end—we finished them off. Service was adequate—not rushed, but we did have to ask for drink refills a few times. Overall, it was fine. So, in conclusion, we had another 3.5-star experience. I'd consider going back if we find ourselves in Larkspur and hungry, but we likely wouldn't make a special trip down from Castle Rock, given the many other options available nearby.
We visited this place once while in Larkspur. It was decent, but not exceptional. I would definitely prefer to drive to Monument and dine at La Casa Fiesta instead.
Poor service, rude staff, and overpriced margaritas. They charged $18 and there was barely any tequila in it.
Love the service and food. The Mole is so good. The nachos are the perfect snack. Enchiladas are my favorite.
