Acre - Las Animas Bajas

My wife and I and two friends recently ate at Acre, near San Jose del Cabo. It is next to the famous Flora Farms restaurant where we had eaten the day before. Overall, we found the food at Acre to be nothing short of amazing. All four of us agreed that this was one of the best-prepared meals we had ever had. One suggestion: the tasting menu/wine pairing looked great but they require the entire table to order it. I understand the logic but requiring a 2 person minimum would be more reasonable. Not a big deal but a missed opportunity for Acre.The cocktail list was innovative, with very creative twists on the usual standbys. The wine list was fairly extensive, with something for every taste and most price-points (Acre is not the place to go if you want to save your pennies.)The direct service of the wait-staff was solid - attentive but not over-bearing. So why only 4 stars?Unfortunately they dropped the ball in a couple of key areas - and they definitely took our experience down a couple notches. First, when we arrived at 7pm, the restaurant was almost empty and we asked to be seated at a round table near a corner. We were informed that we couldn’t have that table because it seated 5 people and we were only a party of four. Your guessed it: 45 minutes later, they sat a party of 3 there. (Restaurant remained half-empty the entire night.) Nice.Second, since it was a hot, humid, August Cabo evening, we started to get very warm - especially after the sun went down and the breeze died. The restaurant had fans all over although our table did not have one pointed at it and we requested a number of times to have a fan placed near us but we were told repeatedly that no portable fans were available. You guessed it: 10 minutes after our last request, they brought out a portable fan for the table next to us. Argh!Now you can imagine that these two incidents cast a somewhat negative pall over what should have been an amazing meal and evening. I would have given this particular experience only 3 stars but I’ll give Acre the benefit of the doubt and assume that not everyone has such experiences so I bumped it to 4 for this review.Bottom line: it’s worth a visit but they definitely still have some bugs to work out of their system.

Sin lugar a dudas la comida los variados sabores y las bebidas los dejarán con ganas de volver, en realidad sólo con lo espectacular que es el lugar tienen para regresar pero la atención comida ubicación sin lugar a dudas un lugar que no pueden dejar pasar.

Went with family for dinner as our fancy meal for the trip. Is a bit off the beaten path in the quieter San Jose del Cabo side. The roads are not paved to the restaurant, so when I mean off the beaten path, I mean it. The restaurant is tucked away in a jungle oasis in the middle of dry dessert hillsides. The property is large, lush and beautiful. Staff is accommodating and offered us access to the still being built treehouse rooms. Dinner was very good. I wished I could have tried the tasting menu but ours was a big party of 10 with mostly unadventurous eaters. Our server Israel Lezama was very attentive none the less. The weather had taken a turn from hot to humid so it was a challenge to truly enjoy the meal fully when you are just too hot. The venue is only outdoors so keep this in mind when you book. They did eventually bring out a fan to cool us down after we asked for it, but shortly after other waiters kept turning it towards their tables. That was a bit annoying. Still, I would come back and shoot for the tasting menu... perhaps not smack in the middle of summer.

Tiene una entrada súper bonita al lugar, esta muy bonito, todos los viernes primero del mes tiene un dj, y la comida es deliciosa, pidan de entrada las coles de Bruselas y el pollito de leche! El servicio es muy bueno, son atentos y rápidos

Best ambiance we had in Mexico! The food was very unique and delicious! Try everything if you can! We are up stairs outside and the sunset was beautiful!
