To start, the storefront was unclean, with mop marks all over the floor. Two out of three tables and the bar area were cluttered with trash and food scraps. The trash bin near the entrance was overflowing, and I even spotted three soggy, wrapped sandwiches sitting on the soup prep counter. I ordered a medium cheesesteak "with the works"—mushrooms, grilled onions, hot and sweet peppers, provolone cheese, a toasted roll, and Russian dressing—and was given a small cheesesteak with hardly any cheese, no Russian dressing, raw onions, dry and overcooked steak, and a soggy roll that tasted old and tough. For my second sandwich, I requested a medium ham sandwich with standard toppings, including mustard, mayo, oil, and vinegar. I was told they no longer offer ham sandwiches and that they only had prosciuttini. I accepted this alternative, only to find the meat piled on top of lettuce and tomatoes soaked in mustard without a trace of vinegar. It was overly salted, and both the tomatoes and lettuce had an odd taste. The roll was dry and devoid of any mayonnaise. Lastly, I ordered a large turkey sandwich with the same standard toppings. This time, there were hardly any of the strange-tasting tomatoes in the sandwich. They informed me that since they ran out of 20-inch rolls, they had pieced together a 12-inch and a 9-inch to make a 20. While I understood that, the rolls were still extremely dry and tough. Curiously, the 9-inch had too much mayo, but the 12-inch had none. The turkey was a bit dry, and both sandwiches were drenched in mustard. As a final frustration, when I tried to use my Cap Rewards app, it took several attempts to scan it, along with two manual entries, and then I still didn’t get the points for the purchase. In summary, this was by far the worst experience I've ever had.
Please note that this review is written in comparison to other sandwich shops. When you're looking for a sandwich, it can feel like there are endless choices, each providing a unique twist. However, Capriotti's stands out with its truly distinctive offerings! Their sandwiches taste like a homemade meal, perfectly nestled between two slices of bread. They are substantial and guaranteed to satisfy your hunger, so be prepared to leave feeling delightfully stuffed. It's an excellent spot to grab a hearty sandwich!
The cheese steak was incredible, and the hot Bobbi was very tasty as well! I found the meatball a bit too salty for my liking, but everyone else really enjoyed it. Overall, the food was fantastic!
Ordered 2 Cheese Steak subs 1 Capistami. 2 subs were supposed to be 6 we asked specifically, they were 12. The Bell Peppers tasted like they were soaked in something/pickled. ... just not sure butttt definitely not fresh not to our liking we don't remember that taste previously didn't see any Mushrooms in the smaller one. There was far less mean in the subs than in previous times. The Capistrami hasn't been eaten, so no opinion.. .. butttt I don't have high hopes. When calling, an awful connection. May not be going back sadly.
