I 'm a younger person, especially when you are talking about Laughlin. The first time I had dinner with my 84 yeat old Aunt and Uncle plus a 70 year old friend of theirs and my 65 year old cousin. We all ordered a craft beer which they brew on site and a meal. My Aunt and Uncle split their chopped steak and mashed potatoes and still had more than enough. The personal pizzas were also enough for 2 or 3 people alone. They are wood fired right there next to the table we sat at. My Aunt 's friend ordered the Mandarin Orange chicken salad and loved it. Service was excellent and the food came pretty quick. Our only complaint would be that it was quite cold because the entrance is near the casino entrance and they have to compensate for the hot air coming in. The wood-fired pizzas were really good and totally customizable. I 've had better pizza, but this is Laughlin and it was the best I 'd had in that town. My second visit was for lunch. I tried to go to Brew Brothers accross the street at the Tropicana, but they don 't open until 1pm for no apparent reason. So, I went back to Pints. I sat at the bar and had a different beer than the night before. The first night I had the Bodacious Blueberry and it was a bit too Blueberry-y for a whole glass. For lunch I did the Mexican lager which was excellent! I also really enjoyed the fish tacos which were of the fried variety, but very tasty. I guess if you gamble on the bar machines you can drink a free beer, but I don 't gamble much and wasn 't drinking more than 1. Lunch wasn 't cheap, but it was really good. The crinkle-cut sweet potato fries were fantastic! Pints is my favorite Laughlin restaurant I 've been to. The decor is really neat making it look like you are inside the ship. The staff is nice and younger than most other places. I would say that Pints is more popular with the under-55 crowd, but my elderly aunt and uncle really liked their meal and we all had more than enough food. Older folks tend to complain about pretty much everything, but they had no complaints at Pints. If there was any place where they could improve, it would be the temperature control of the dining area and maybe have a cicerone on staff or somebody that knows more about beer that the folks I talked to there. I 'm a beer snob, so I like to know a bit about the beers. I asked the bartender about the seasonal Ye Old Ale and he said it was like an IPA. It 's actually a Golden, but again, I 'm a beer snob. None of the beers on tap are that unorthodox, which is probably a good strategy for Laughlin where 98% of folks just want a Coors Light . Pints gets 2 !
So another brewery in a light industrial area! Wait, sorry. A brewery in a casino this time. We are spending one night in Laughlin after looking at property in Bullhead City. So here we go... Pints is located in the Colorado Belle hotel and casino. It 's a big space with lots of seating, and a nice view of the river. I tried a full flight of the beers on tap at Pints, which was six. They have five regularly on tap, and then a wild card brew . The wild card brew was a Mexican lager, which I generally like. This one had a sweet corn aroma and flavor to it. Not bad at all. Pints Premium golden Ale was a nice light beer with a decent bit of flavor. Nothing outstanding but drinkable. What The Puck IPA is a pretty good session IPA. Not overly hoppy but with a bit of flavor to it. Rehab Red is so far the best of the bunch. Malty flavor of course and easy on the hops. The Bodacious Blueberry is just...not good. It was funny because SWPFTD tried it first and wouldn 't try it again. I smelled it and didn 't get much blueberry, then taste it and still not much blueberry then BANG a weird aftertaste right at the end. One second try I could pick up an aroma that matches with the aftertaste although I 'm still not sure what it is. It wasn 't good though. There are places College Street Brewing in Lake Havasu, that does a great blueberry beer, but this one isn 't one of them. Jackass Stout. This must be my beer. They even named it after me. SWPFTD often says I 'm a jackals. I know it 's a term of affection though... The oatmeal stout was pretty good but not stellar by any means. SWPFTD drank her Rehab Red. I finished my flight and we were about done beer-wise. We also had an order of potato skins and chicken wings with a honey BBQ sauce. No issue with the appetizers at all. Those were good. Pints was a good atmosphere. We were here once before in the evening and it was rocking. The food we had was good and we would have no problem coming back in. The beer is not great but we found something we liked. If anyone is a glutton for punishment, please, follow my brewery reviews from across the U.S. and beyond! 3 stars for the service. 3.5 stars for the food. I think this place has a lot of potential, but overall I think the experience was just okay. My husband and I had a $40 dining credit to burn so we got a fair amount of food. Some of it was better than others and a lot of the food I felt was overpriced for what it was. Here 's the rundown: Crab and Corn Chowder Not bad. This was good and unique, and fairly hearty. Root Beer They make their own root beer in house and I 'm always a fan of trying whatever is on tap, but this soda was underwhelming. It was flat and way too sweet. Also no refills. I recommend asking for a sample before you commit to the whole thing. Mushroom Burger My husband enjoyed this quite a bit. But yikes $15 is expensive for a burger. You can get sweet potato fries with it. My husband is a fan but I thought they were just okay. Sante Fe Salad They gave me a good amount of chicken, but it was so bland and dry. I was hoping for more. The dressing wasn 't bad. Still $12 for a salad is steep. Gluten Free Pizza The worst of the bunch. I actually LIKE gluten free pizza but this was underwhelming. I wanted the crust a little crispier, and when I asked for them to put back in for more time I was told they can 't because it 'll ruin it . Anyway the pizza was underwhelming and it made us wish we would have just gotten the real crust instead. Service was really slooooow too, and the place wasn 't too crowded. I felt like we waited a long time for our food and kept on having to ask for things (for instance I got my salad brought out to me but no fork). If you got the dining credit like we did, it 's not a bad place, but I feel like the Loading Dock located on the other side of Colorado Belle was a better value, especially factoring into the buffet. Pints does have some nice window seating if you can get it, which is great when it 's hot out, but Loading Dock actually has outdoor seating which I think is better. My husband does like there beers here, but you can get them outside of this restaurant (like when gambling at the VP bar). So don 't feel like you have to go here just to try it. Also, we went here for lunch but when we swung back around here for dinner the line was crazy busy. I would have been even more upset had we had to wait.
5 star food, but 1 star service, so I guess that averages out to a 3 star overall rating. We came here on the last day of our Laughlin trip before heading back to Vegas. If you'd like a River view, I'd recommend asking for a table near the back of the restaurant as we did. The service issue was mainly due to the server being unable to remember orders or to ever come back to check on us. He probably just wasn't a very competent server...how can you still put in the wrong order after asking me multiple times? We ordered 2 appetizers and 1 entree to share between two of us; one of them being an order of 20 things. We asked for 5 honey BBQ, 5 Buffalo and the rest mango habanero. He asked me to repeat the order a couple times to clarify that he had it down correctly. Once we finished telling him the rest of our order, he left for a few minutes. But not before returning a few minutes later to ask me the wing sauces again...maybe you write down customers' orders?! WTH! Anyways when our food comes, the wing order was all wrong. We got 10 Buffalo and then 5 each of mango habanero and BBQ. No big deal as the wings were really really good but it just seems ridiculous that the order would be wrong after he clarified it so many times! We also ordered the spicy cauliflower bites and Brewer's brats platter. The cauliflower was soooo good! The brats not so much. We ate for a while though and the waiter never came back to take our plates, check on us or refill our drinks. I sat there for a while with some leftover food waiting to see if he'd come back to at least bring the check and offer a take out box. Nope. I ended up going to the servers' nook to find a lady and ask for a container. Ridiculous! Would I come back? Probably for the wings and cauliflower bites if I ever was in the area. But only because the food was that good. Some of the best quality pub style food I've seen in a long time. They also brew their own beers although we did not partake.
I have such mixed feelings about this place. A few things were great but the rest fell very short. I am here from out of town visiting my sister. We came in on Christmas Day and it wasn't too busy, but our server acted like he was serving 15 tables at one time, so maybe they were short on wait staff? Let's start with the positives: 1. Shoestring fries delicious 2. Beer cheese soup (really more like a dip) was tasty 3. Fish tacos were good Negatives: 1. Waiter was extremely rushed and not very helpful. 2. I ordered a coke that never came to the table. 3. The beer cheese soup was $6.99 and way too expensive for the portion size. They would not give me a cup instead of a bowl for a lower price. 4. The beer cheese soup was way too thick and could only be eaten as a dip. 5. The chicken served on the BBQ pizza and salads tasted like it cans straight from a can, yuck! 6. The BBQ chicken pizza needed BBQ drizzled across the top. It was lacking sauce. 7. Southwest salad was extremely bland Next time I'll choose somewhere else to eat.
