Smokey Joe's Creole Cafe - Launceston

WOW... what a wonderful slice of New Orleans heaven tucked away in little Ol' Launnie. We loved the atmosphere as soon as we walked in the door. We were seated straight away and the place was packed full. All the other customers were in high spirits which instantly made it warmer. Our food came to us very quickly and was delicious, the waiter and waitress were excellent at explaining our meals and telling us what sauces went best with what. We had stuffed mushrooms and crocodile tails for an entree. And gumbo and BBQ ribs for our main. Our meals where absolutely delicious. My partner and I decided we can't eat anywhere else. For those that complain about portion size, I don't understand. You won't leave this place hungry.... I promise. Good, hearty, real food. Go check it out ya'll.

Went here many years ago and was fantastic then it appeared to go downhill but went back last night and was even better then it ever was I had the dry ribs crocodile and cinimon banana for dessert It’s My favourite place to eat out now can’t wait to go back. Full credit to the staff and as we’d for bringing it backup to top class

At long last, I finally ate here last night. And oh my goodness.... it was absolutely superb. I was desperately hoping it would be good, and it exceeded my every expectation. Deep fried crocodile, Chimichanga (deep fried shredded beef burrito), Boston Butt (pork shoulder with BBQ sauce), Boudin balls (deep fried cajun sausage balls), hot wings.... absolutely sublime. And, added bonus, the atmosphere was awesome, the staff were wonderful and the overall feel of the place was just fabulous. My new favourite restaurant! Literally can hardly wait to go back to try some more of the dishes on the menu. It's so rare to have a 5 out of 5 dining experience these days but Smokey Joe's you've nailed it.

This place was fantastic. The staff were so fun and our waiter was so polite and prompt. The atmosphere was great. The food was phenomenol, big servings.. Not too much that you waste it, bit enough to make you happy full. I will definitely be taking all my friends back.

This was my third visit to Smokey Joe's, and I couldn't ask for more. Also my second visit for a birthday; they are happy to refrigerate and provide plates etc. for home brought birthday cakes (reasonable cakeage fee), very friendly staff, amazingly warm and cosy atmosphere, and food as always, consistently superb. Go the Boston Butt! My only possible reservation.....the meals are so generous we didn't have room to actually eat the birthday cake! Wish I could give 6 stars, so:
