The Prickly Cactus - Launceston

Came here to dinner based on positive reviews, but were underwhelmed by the food. found the dishes plentiful, but a bit bland and under-seasoned compared to Tex-Mex we eat here and in the usa. we tried the chicken burrito and kaktus taco. was not a fan of the Irish coffee (coffee whisky cream,) but I am sure some people would love it. service was friendly, efficient and attentive. the ambiente is relaxed and the heating is excellent. probably don't come back, but glad we let it go.

Most delicious Mexican cuisine I've eaten until today. only loved the appetizers bark afteros with melt in mouth pulled bark meat, melted cheese, salsa and sour cream on a bed of crispy maischips was sensational. and a generous portion to boot! was almost enough for a main thing. wedges were on the money, like the beautiful kaktusbrot with melted cheese and other light toppings. the fajitas (main) were fantastic (as depicted.) I went with the chili con cactus (which has a disclaimer that it is for the brave fountain, I have it soou spicy, I thought my mouth was on fire and I could feel the chili up to my mag haha. Eat: great if they are mexican with absolutely no heat or spice on it. chosen for the mild thinking I would not need to drive it up. it needed a rise. for every taste of the Mexican rice side dish, which was not offered a taste and had the consistency of microwave rice. cactus wrap was not worth the 22 was more like something she would get from a food dish Mexican. (salsa’s would be an improvement dessert: zelt for churros and were served 3 with conned impact cream and bought chocolate and caramel sauce. not worth $10 from a long shot amount of small children and screaming babies. definitiw a family friendly place. but not great, despite the later...read more

Fantastic service, very courteous, especially with a 2 year old. that eat some of the best Mexicans I had in one.

Amazing, Amazing Amazing!! Was so surprised to find good, and I truly mean good Mexican food. And to find it out of the way Launceston! Good value, deliciously delicious food, and scrumptious margaritas!
