We had no coins to pay for the parking (welcome to 2021, Switzerland! and we kindly asked the restaurant if we could pay for something by card and have the change in coins. Not only they refused based on the absurd ground that a Swiss tacit law (sic! obliges everyone to have at least 10 CHF in cash, but an old man standing nearby the counter (the owner? a bystander? a John Doe? walking giggling towards us sharing an unrequested anecdote where a customer had been refused the payment by card for some reason although he had no cash and this old man was so incredibly proud of this moment that he could not even realise that he was the one missing out on the opportunity. Long story short: never in my life I have heard a worst excuse than a tacit law which I also googled by the way and guess what, it doesn't exist! and never have I been treated with more disrespect. I do warmly encourage everyone to walk a hundred meters down the road going up the valley and on the right there is a shop owned by an extremely pleasant and well mannered person that deserves the tourists' money much more than this place.
A no frills simple restaurant that does the simple things quite well. We had the pasta and gnocchi, which were done really well. The food is a bit like what you’d get in an Osteria in Italy, simple but hearty and always manages to hit the spot. The prices are alright (for swiss standards obviously). The staff is multilingual and quite friendly. The little terrace outside is lovely, you’re even slap bang in the middle of the Versasca valley for good measure.
