Live in France about an hour away by car and have been visiting this beach restaurant for the past 4 years have always enjoyed it and the food was great. This year the visit was VERY disappointing. The food was poor and over priced. I usually have the salade niçoise that has also been very good in the past.....yesterday I was presented with something that looked like they had thrown any old salad ingredients they had in to the bowl and topped with a three small chunks of almost raw tuna and I use the word old advisedly as many of the salad leaves were heavily bruised. It was dressed with sesame oil and bore no resemblance at all to a salade niçoise. The dessert called a plat gourmand HAD two very small cups of " creamy stuff" with a bit of muesli in the bottom, a shop bought Italian almond biscuit that was soft ( should have been hard) and a tiny half filled glass of starting to ferment pineapple pieces .this cost €8! I had ordered a kir with framboise and got a kir with pêche .this all combined with the unfortunately common poor French service ( or shall I say lack of it)! and it was really a pretty rubbish meal.......sad as I don't feel inclined to eat here again in the future.
I just love this place, food excellent for a beach bar, ambience great and staff fantastic. But don't tell anyone!
Some 36 of us had lunch here- all ready for us on arrival - we were on a northern soul weekend and whilst having a long lunch music was being played - started with bread and tuna fish dip lovely very fresh - the we had Caesar salad - with apple/toasted bread - massive portion - two of us could have shared. All in all a lovely lunch - would visit again.
We have visited this place several times this summer and it is one of our all time favourites be it sunny or not! Book if you require a sun bed in high season. You are sitting on the beach in the sand so its very casual. Arrive by boat, bicycle or car - all are good. In winter, they pack the whole lot up and it just disappears! The inside bar/restaurant is spacious and there is plenty of room if the weather turns. A really quirky huge outside bar/seating area too.
