The restaurant is not too large, perhaps catering for about 50, so it could become busy, but on the night we visited there were three couples and a party of four, all ably served from the hostess alone. The food on offer was locally sourced and cooked with both care and panache and served with accompaniments that were decorative and both tasty and fulfilling. The wine list was not large but did cover for anything that was offered on the menu's or carte and at very reasonable prices. One good offer was made to us, as one was driving the wine was re-corked without question to be finished in the luxury of our tent.I have no problem in highly recommending this restaurant. which as an aside, also offers a few rooms, so next time we will most probably stay over (and finish the wine with more style).
We have eaten here many times, being our local restaurant, & the food varies from excellent to fairly average. On the whole service is good & there is a pleasant ambience.
The restaurant was quite busy but this didn't have any impact on the dinners, I wasn't 100% on what I had ordered as my French isn't brilliant and the young waiter was also trying his best - I feel I or should say we did really good as the food was out of the world, every mouthful tasted superb and I just kept wanting more and didn't want my meal to end, the dish I am speaking about I later found out was pigs trotters and if I knew what I was ordering I wouldn't have ordered but please it was so good, my main course we again found out it was kidneys this was very rich and Moreish, the vegetables and potatoes again were cooked perfectly, a beautiful meal served in a warm busy attractive environment, the chef came out to say hello to the dinners and to see if they enjoyed their meals and by the chatting and smiling faces they did.I would recommend this restaurant whole heartily the quality of the food was exceptional - call and book so you know your sure of a table.
Although this restaurant goes not do 'menu ouvriers' (workers lunches) their 15 Euro menu du jour is a very good budget four course meal with red wine included. The welcome was muted but the service was obliging and efficient - almost fast for this part of rural France, probably due to the fact that there was only a set meal. The room was clean and well maintained and well frequented by people who had obviously come to enjoy good country cooking. It is always a bonus when the chef bakes his own bread for the guests. It was also nice to have fresh cutlery with every course. It is just a pity that the chef did not appear in person to ask if everything was OK. Forecourt parking is limited but not far away are many parking possibilities. There was no artistic bill at the end, just good value.
I booked a table for four through the Michelin site which this place uses. I received confirmation of my booking and received a booking reference. I turned up at the restaurant along with my three guests only to find the place closed. It was too late to find an alternative restaurant and therefore our whole evening was completely ruined. Why was I allowed to book a table when the place was clearly not going to be open? This is a terrible way to behave and I will never bother trying to book a table here again.I will also be telling anyone and everyone never to bother with this place.
