Red River Barbecue Company

It truly, truly pains me to post this review since the sister restaurant, Red River BBQ Grill, is such a reliable and wonderful dining experience that I feel almost obligated to support the Cantina however I 'd be disingenuous to both myself and my fellow Yelpers rate the Cantina as a 5 Star experience when in my experience it is not.Let 's start with the food which is certainly ample in serving size but not particularly remarkable. Look, it 's Tex-Mex in an area of the Country where there is an abundance of of this cuisine hence the standards are likely more critical than let 's say the Northeast or upper mid-West however there is far too much dependence on queso or chili like gravies than on the underlying flavor of the entrees. Since I 've been here several times (I try not to Yelp until I 've had a fair sampling of a dining experience in a restaurant...unless it 's just incredibly impressive or absolutely horrible) so my description of the use of toppings to ablate the underlying plate is consistent.The service is barometric. I 've had wonderfully attentive dining experiences or a DMV (Department of Motor Vehicle) level...coupled with mediocre food a negative service experience makes this venue one that I would personally not recommend or return to. Why 3 Stars rather than 1? Because on occasion I 've had some wonderfully attentive servers and out of respect to them I would suggest that if you are not looking for particularly knock out flavor and 'just some food '...give it a try...you may have a pleasant experience if the service (or restaurant manager) are on task.

Our first visit. Really great food and service. Our group had a variety of drinks and entrees. Everything was delicious and we enjoyed the atmosphere. We will certainly return!

We arrived right when they opened on 10/3/2023 and had a really nice meal. I wish I would have got our waitresses name, she was so sweet and attentive. We ordered watermelon margaritas, one frozen and the other on the rocks...both were yummy! We also both got burrito monterey meals...mine had fajita beef and my husband had ground beef. Both were delicious! We also tried the queso blanco for the first time and oh lord was it delicious! I have been here many times and for some reason have never tried it. I'm definitely getting it again. Sorry for the messy pic
