Doener Summer - Leeds

The restaurant Doner Summer has turned greasy late-night food into a culinary experience with their fantastic kebabs. Their innovative and delicious vegan options add a unique twist to this indulgent cuisine. The restaurant's cozy ambiance always adds to the enjoyment of the meal. I am particularly disappointed that their Sheffield location has closed, as it was a cherished spot for savoring their exceptional dishes.

Just back in Leeds this week and I must say, my recent experience at DS was not good. The staff was completely different, as expected. It seemed like the take away service had taken over. We had to send back one main course because it was cold and not fresh. The chef did come out to apologize, which was nice. The service was inconsistent - one staff member was very pleasant while the other seemed eager for us to finish our meal and leave. Despite being the last table and celebrating two birthdays, the less interested server eventually brought the bill, placed the card machine in front of me, and just stood there without saying a word. This was one of the worst service experiences I've had and I won't be returning. Your experience may vary, but my advice is to eat quickly and not delay the staff. On the other hand, back in October 2021, DS was a fantastic venue with great music, friendly staff, and delicious food. I had a wonderful evening there. The Korean Teller tray was especially delicious. I can't wait to visit again. They have their menus available online for browsing. I would recommend booking ahead for weekends. The food is quite healthy with plenty of fresh vegetables in most dishes.

If you're craving vegan junk food, this is most definitely the place to go. We shared the combo platter (fried chick'n, skin on fries, pickles, slaw and Korean 2.0 sauce) and the what's garlic in French burger, which were all excellent. We also ordered a few house craft 1/2 pints and a soft flossi, which were refreshing. Great staff and nice vibe. There's the junk food craving satisfied for a few months...
