La Besi - Leeds

Friday evening dinner in la besi restaurant near the university leeds main campus. 1) environment (0.75/1) a small and cozy restaurant that probably hosts up to 40 people at a time. 2) food (0.75/1) we were 2 of us and we had her pizza garlauchbrot for starters, which was different than what I am used to, but her tomato and garlic base sauce was full of arome! next we had a plate of penne al pollo (penne pasta with huh) in a white sauce with mushrooms. the part was decent and the taste was also good. we had two desserts: torta selva nera or a frozen dessert with pie sponge...read more

I went to this restaurant for lunch and found the lunch special to be fantastic. The pizza was freshly made in the traditional Italian style and tasted delicious, although there was perhaps a bit too much cheese. The ambiance was more functional, resembling a diner rather than a restaurant, which suited lunchtime perfectly but may not be as appealing for dinner.

Came here for dinner and drinks so delicious and best value for money of any Italian in leeds. Would recommend to anyone, especially students as BYOB saves you so much! Thanks for an amazing meal xx

I had previously given la besi a glowing review, but my recent experiences have been disappointing. The last two times we ordered, the food was subpar. My husband found the linguine bolognese to be bland with hardly any bolognese, and my carbonara was also lacking flavor and missing the advertised parmesan cheese. When we ordered pizzas, my chicken and mushroom pizza had very little tomato sauce and scarce chicken, while my husband received the wrong calzone initially. Although they promptly delivered the correct order after our complaint, the calzone was disappointing with minimal filling. This decline in quality is not consistent with our past experiences. While the staff have remained polite and professional, we suspect changes in management or kitchen staff. Unfortunately, we will not be returning anytime soon due to these recent disappointing meals.

We have visited this restaurant several times in the past but this time I ordered a meal for delivery for my husband and I. I ordered the pasta and steak in a tomato and chilli sauce, which was delicious. My husband ordered the steak. There was a mistake made by the restaurant with his order but as soon as my husband called them they immediately sent him another meal. His meal was also delicious. Both meals arrived piping hot. The staff on the phone and the delivery man were both very polite and friendly. We will definitely visit/ order from here again.
