This is probably the best Chinese restaurant in Leicester, according to my Chinese girlfriend. Always full of Chinese students, which is a very good sign. We’ve had a variety of dishes there, and they’re always delicious. If you e never tried, go for a hotpot, but all the food is really good. Service is also very friendly and efficient. One tip: they don’t take credit cards, so bring cash. But they’re not expensive at all £60 70 for two, depending on how much you push the boat out.
Amazing food and very friendly service! My Chinese companion was impressed and said it was the best she’d had in Leicester. High praise from a very fussy lady! Great prices, too! We had a huge bowl of spicy fish soup, aubergine with minced pork, cold spicy tripe and cucumber and some rice, plus a pot of tea and a couple of cold drinks, which came to £48 and a tip. I can’t wait to come back for a hotpot.
Continuing our quest to find a replacement for the New Golden Chef (RIP.....forever in our hearts) we tried a takeaway from this place following a menu drop through our letterbox. The takeaway menu is rather spartan e.g. three starters, but this is not necessarily a bad sign. Here’s what we ordered with my comments: 1. Vegetable spring roll. This was the worst item. Tiny little finger sized rolls with no discernible content. A pale comparison to NGC’s four centimetre submarines of assorted morsels....a veritable feast in themselves! 2. Salt and pepper spare ribs. Very meaty and tasty, generous serving for a starter. 3. Prawn with salt and pepper. I would say these were up to the NGC benchmark standard. Large, moist prawns in a crispy, well fried batter that wasn’t floury like so many! 4. House Special fried rice. Rather expensive at £7 and not as meaty as some........but it was one of the tastiest I’ve ever had, and I’ve had many. 5. Hot and sour soup. This is another item that we ‘benchmark’. It wasn’t as good as NGC but nonetheless satisfying. The food was packed in foil trays with card lids apart from the soup. No free prawn crackers!!! Would we order again? Yes, we’ll try a few more things on the menu. This could be a refuge in our ongoing quest.
The food is super delicious and the staff very polite and welcoming. Due to COVID 19, we are unable to visit but we have taken take away. I recommend it, definitely.
