I had to wait 45 minutes to get a table that is annoying when they ski. we then had to agree to sit in a nice day in the house, even...whether we were booked out of the house or we had to wait at least 30 minutes. It's a pity that it has spoiled the experience. I will not go back
A must the lunch there!! The way to arrive there is a way skiing or walk in the middle of a foret! Prices are ok! Service very good. Food delicious!
This restaurant is a hidden jewel in the 3 vallées Meribel. It is hidden because it is off the beaten tracks but definitely worth the detour. The surrounding are charming, the food is excellent especially the grilled meat (their specialty) as it is cooked in...the main room in a wide open fireplace !
We have been going to Clos Bernard every winter and summer season for 5yrs. The service has always been mixed but we are have always been happy to have a slower lunch off set by the beautiful surroundings. However on the last visit on Christmas...Eve found the head waiter incredibly rude and unwelcoming on arrival (we were 5mins late as it is a challenging ski in for small children) and were immediately scolded for being late and told we would have to vacate the table after an 1hr 15mins. His attitude became more aggressive when we asked to sit inside (where we had specified we wanted to sit when we made the booking) rather than in the tented area where they wanted to sit us. We were told there was no way to accommodate our ask as they were fully booked, which we were happy to believe given it was Christmas Eve, but on going inside (to find someone to serve us on several occasions) found numerous empty tables that could have accommodated us. This will be our last visit the equation of poor service and rude waiters is no longer offset by the ambiance.
We were a table of 4 and discovered this fantastic place in, as it says, a magical setting. What was there not to like.... everything perfect. Welcoming whether you just wanted a just a soup, salad or a full blown hearty meal. I wish I...had taken photos as the food was top quality, delicious and well presented. I had the beef burger mmmmnnn sooo good. The wine recommended was great. And, the cocktail of the day was pretty good too along with the ambience. The waiters and waitresses all seemed to speak French and English (I am not a french speaker so was appreciated) I don't understand the poor reviews as all 4 of us thought it was brilliant. Highly recommend whether you are looking for a bistro type venue or a 5 star 3 course meal.
