In the city I found a place called 'The Wild Bean', which shows a frame sign that 'breaking Burritos' out there. Inside I took a menu to see what they put in the Burrito and noticed something I didn't recognize: 'tempeh' bacon. When I asked the Lord behind the counter, he informed me that it was a soy-based bacon product. This carnivore does not eat fake meat, so my stay in Wild Bean would be short. When I made my way out of town, I discovered a street dressage along a quiet road: Jin's Drive-In. At the edge of the parking lot, two men gathered two new Ramadas next to two unmatched, which covered more mismatched outdoor furniture, in which to feed. As a real drive-in but you can also sit, order and eat in your car. There were no ways to sit inside. The drive-in wasn't fancy and it looked like it was here for a while. This is usually a good sign in my book. The watch only read 10AM, but Jim's 'Open' flag was raised. The menu board showed the typical entrance of burgers and frits, chicken nuggets, hot dogs and the like, but no breakfast buffet. I was greeted by the smiling face of a server that came out of the drive-in and greeted me. I asked her if she had any breakfast dishes she replied 'No', but they could make me an egg and bacon sandwich or throw an egg on a cheeseburger. That was accommodating, but I discovered something on the menu that could cross and suffice: a BLT. I ordered one together with a lemonade and then took a place at one of Ramadas. Just a short time later she reemerged an old school floor, the kind attached to your side window of your car, with my sandwich and drink on it. My server was equipped with a purse and a waist mounted coin changer, as I remember that the bus drivers used to wear when you change 't'exact '. The tab was just over $5. The sandwich was made with regular bread, although naturally roasted, and the contents were of a reasonable size, making it an ideal small but tasty way to start the day. Oh, and yes, it was very delicious. No 'tempeh' bacon here... unfortunately, a pig was injured in making this meal. The lemonade was a real lemonade, but it tasted the part and was cold. If I had to choose between fake lemonade or fake bacon, I take the bacon every time. My server also informed me that it offered over 30 types of milkshake, including hot fudge, which is my favorite. Since this was an old school trip, I suspected that her milkshakes were probably also old school; not the overpriced 'real ice taste' things you see throughout these days. I'm recently lactose intolerant, but I decided what the hell, and ordered one to go. It was kind of like I expected. A generic polystyrene cup with hot joint drips down the sides. To rub the cup, you could immediately say the thickness of the mass. This was the way your tongue really needs to work to wrap the straw firmly to pull the thick shake from container to mouth. It tasted brilliant and is worth the pending inconvenience I will have in an hour or so. Some things in life are worth the sacrifice.
Friendly staff and good food!! My favorite is the hot dog and the fried pickles with a milkshake. They have so many flavors to try. Not a place to eat when you are looking for healthy food or diets, but so it is worth it!
Jims Drive in.. that alone says a lot ... Driving Ins are few and far between the Massie's keep on this old style of a restaurant where you can eat in your car, with Kurb service for our community, the some of the best food you put in your mouth.. Something to eat for all ages!!!
My mother talked about how she was younger, ate her here, so my brother and I decided to stop after his football practice and try it out and was super impressed. The atmosphere that women work and the food were amazing! I had no idea that they only took cash and was a dollar and some changes shortly after the order, but our waitress Amber was so sweet and covered it for us. I felt so bad not able to type, but wanted everyone to know how sweet she was and how it made my day. Will return with cash next time and leave her a great tip! If you haven't eaten here yet, you need to! The Philly cheese Sub was dying!
Has always been and still is the best burgers and fries in the world
