Ken Milton, the legendary leader of the hotel for over 30 years, provided warm hospitality and personalized service. We started with a flavorful Chicken and Apricot Terrine, followed by a delectable Lamb Shoulder Pie that truly showcased the high-quality lamb meat. Our meal was perfectly complemented by a crisp glass of Passerina white wine, and Isabelle provided excellent service at our table.
My son was satisfied with his room during his stay, but we were disappointed with the dinner at the restaurant. The dining area was spacious, but the service was slow, despite the small number of diners at the time. We were seated near the kitchen door, which allowed us to see all the dishes being served. It appeared that everyone received the same vegetables, pre-plated, regardless of their order. The gravy was unimpressive and lacked flavor. Overall, I do not plan on returning to this restaurant.
The location of this restaurant is excellent and the restaurant itself is well maintained and looks nice. However, there are not many tables in the garden area and the umbrellas do not provide adequate covering. There also did not appear to be any disabled access outside. We were seated inside quickly, but had to wait a long time for our food, which was unusual for an afternoon tea. Some of the sandwiches were stale, suggesting they had been sitting out for a while. The selection for five people was okay, but there didn't seem to be one of each item for everyone. The scones were small and seemed store-bought. Overall, it was nothing special and I wouldn't rush to return or recommend it for a classic afternoon tea experience. The sparkling tea (which included a small glass of Prosecco) was quite expensive at £25. We were not informed about a piano player performing poorly during the afternoon, which made conversation difficult as we were seated close to her. Knowing this in advance, we would not have booked. There are limited parking spots, especially for those needing a disabled bay, so plan accordingly.
We had our Lunch at Meridian restaurant last Friday,The 6th of May. Waiter Alex was so helpfull and kind with a great sense of tact. Cumberland sausages with creamy mash and their Burger with chips were just fine! We come here to enjoy our lunch not for the first time already because of their inner garden and beautiful ,some would say, old fashioned English design if you want. Also you are allowed to bring your pets here. Will definitely return! Victor and Ann, and our dogs.
We held a 50th Birthday lunch for my Wife and I and 14 members of our family. We were there for the Sunday Carvery and we all had a fantastic time. The Meridian Restaurant was a lovely setting and the food was fantastic and great value. The staff were very attentive, particularly a lady by the name of Frida I believe) who looked after us. Would recommend this place and will be returning in the future
