My son invited me to lunch and this boy can eat so I knew I was in for a treat. Old House BBQ does not disappoint! From the outside the place doesn?t look like much but hey it?s not the Ritz it?s a bbq joint so all good. The inside was up kept wellwith a very good selection to choose from. I had the three meat plate and my son had the loaded baked potato?we were stuffedwhen done! Food was really really good and priced well. Let?s just say I will return!!
I enjoyed Old House. It was authentic TX BBQ with good flavor. I had the 2 meat sandwich special w/2 sides. I also added 3 pork ribs and had green beans and Caesar salad for my 2 sides. My favorite meats were the 1) pork ribs followed by the 2)jalapeno sausage. The 2 meats I selected for my sandwich were brisket and jalapeno sausage. The brisket was just OK. Not muchof a bark or smoke/seasoning flavor as I prefer for a craft BBQ brisket. It seems they maybe rushed the cook a bit and didn 'tfollow the tried and true low slow 225 method? Or give it much rub? But it was still legit and worth checking out! Theyhad 3 different kinds of sauce to try if you wanted. Regular, spicy and smoky. I 'm not a huge sauce guy but I still like tocheck it all out. They were good but honestly, I could not taste much difference between them. They also had a nice condimentstation with all of the typical accoutrements which is good! I always like to have some white onions with my Q and a fewjalapenos and pickles are always nice too! As for the sides, the green beans were good but just very standard canned and heatedvariety. The Cesar salad was excellent!! It had what tasted like a home-made dressing and was surprisingly good for a BBQjoint! They also had beef ribs on the day I went but I did not try any. The counter guy told me they didn 't always have themso maybe should have given those a try? There 's always Next time! I 'll be back to check them out again!
Not a fan at all. Looked decent based off reviews and number of vehicles outside during non peak hours. In Texas we can do bbq. Unfortunately so many open a bbq joint with no real bbq skills. Meat was dry. No flavor. All side and all good is very bland.I?m not one for going crazy with simple things like green beans and mac and cheese but this food needs flavor. The Mac made megag. Gbs are ok. Brisket has no rub or seasoning at all. I like lower sodium for health reasons but this needed salt badly. Thisplace has the potential to be good. It needs help to get there. For those who know how to smoke meats or has legit expectationsfor bbq you will likely be disappointed. If you?ve never had real good bbq there?s a chance you won?t realize the difference.Dickies is about the level of this place. Rudy?s definitely better. And real bbq places are always the way to go. I hope theowners get it together and learn the skills of bbq!!
I am very disappointed in this restaurant. I have been here so many times over the years and tonight was the reason I will not be back. When I came in no one greeted me just kept on making orders without acknowledging the people coming in to order. Iordered the 3 meat plate w/ribs and double sliced beef which is over $18 bucks. For that kind of money I expect a decent BBQplate. Well not Thursday night they gave 2 scrawny little ribs burned to hell and back, then literally 6 thin slices of brisketand chunk of fat. The BBQ were trash, no flavor, no onions, no BBQ sauce in them. The cheesy potatoes was RICO cheese pouredover cubed potatoes w/ some chives and bacon thrown on top. The food was cold and the BBQ was not good. I don't do reviewsunless it is an awful experience. It cost to eat out and during a recession these businesses should be appreciative that anyonecan still afford to stop in and eat. I will not be back and I will tell everyone in Lewisville to go to Big Jack's on Main St.at least they are sweet as pie, food is good and they are way cheaper. Come here at your own risk!!
