We called in our order ahead of time. We picked up our food and it was ready on time! We got home and the food tasted fantastic! 2 of my boys had the chicken quesadilla, My other two boys had the Beef Magic Dragon Tacos. I also had one of the Beef Magic Dragon Tacos. It was amazing! Just the right amount of spice and the flavor was on-point! My husband I had the giant Wet burrito and it was great. It was messy, but not too messy with just the perfect amount of sauce on it. We will definitely be back in the future!
The restaurant is kind of funky honestly. They give you a paper menu and you have to order at the front cashier then they give you a buzzer to come get your own food. Plastic silverware and food served in a plastic bowl with tinfoil. I ordered the burrito which came as a combination with rice and beans on the side, the portion was super small I think I got about 20 beans. Also they gave me rice on the side and there was rice in the burrito. The food was average, but the price was in my opinion high. On the bright side my wife really enjoyed her taco salad and Mexican street corn. The Mexican Street corn was four dollars and it wasn't an ear of corn it was served in a little Styrofoam bowl cut off the ear.
Honestly really annoyed that I paid $50 for the food I received. Tacos are one of the cheaper foods to make even in the current economy. $3-5 per taco is insane, especially considering the food isn 't even good. I don 't expect authentic Mexican food in an area like this, however...I do expect it to taste good on some level. It was edible, but if I lived in Lakeport, I would rather drive to a Taco Bell or even a Red Pepper. And in all reality, should have just made tacos at home or waited to go to Imlay City. First, why is there celery seed/salt on the chips or in the queso? Maybe both? It tasted and smelled like some sort of cheddar soup with a little salsa thrown in. Very weird seasoning combo. Not Mexican in the slightest. Second, the chicken for the tacos was definitely pre-cooked and frozen with some sort of seasoning but it did not come through as chili lime...only as the pre-seasoned taste of the pre-cooked chicken. And just salsa for flavor I guess? But that was basically just tomato puree. Third, the shawarma taco and magic dragon tasted exactly the same. Also a very confused flavor profile. I can see what they were going for but, it 's not executed well at all. Fourth, the Blue Gill for the fish taco my boyfriend ordered was not fresco nor is much of anything here. I really wanted it to be good because it LOOKS better than the other local American-Mexican places, but it just wasn 't. I 'll give them one thing....they take great food pics. And hey, maybe it was an off day...but for the price, I wouldn 't give it a second chance.
Great family atmosphere, delicious food, and the customer service is phenomenal! Puffy tacos are a staple everytime we go there ? The chips and salsa are also amazing. Support local and give them a try!
