Sainsbury's Cafe Lincoln

I took my two children to this restaurant on a Friday. When we reached the order counter, there was a customer in front of us. We had to wait for 5 minutes, which was a bit frustrating. The server made the drink before attending to the next customer, and there was no help offered from other employees. My daughter ordered a children's sandwich, but there were no juice options available and only two types of cheese. She didn't like it and didn't finish it. I ordered a coffee, which was terrible and tasteless. I couldn't even drink it. My son had a fruit and cream milkshake, which he said was okay but nothing special. He also ordered a breakfast dish, while I went for a larger breakfast option. Unfortunately, my daughter had finished her meal before our hot food arrived, which took 10 minutes. She had to sit and watch us eat, which wasn't ideal. However, the freshly prepared food wasn't bad. The restaurant itself looked worn out and dirty. The benches had crumbs on them and the tables were only partially wiped. It seemed sloppy. The kitchen door was open, and you could see the washing area, which wasn't a pleasant sight.

The jacket potatoes were small portions for adults and cold. The scampi and chips came out with the scampi being hard like conkers. We sent them back and waited 10 minutes for a new plate, which was much better and had a larger portion size. The children's chicken nuggets and chips were okay, but the quality of the nuggets was poor. Overall, we were more bored than anything else. We were offered a free drink as compensation for the scampi dish. However, the service from the waiter was the highlight of the experience.

The service was average, but I received a cold hot chocolate. When I asked for it to be heated up, the server kindly made me another one, but it was still only lukewarm. My wife's coffee was also not very hot. We will not be returning to this restaurant.

I took my big kids to lincoln sainsburys when they loved the fish N chips. that was before the lock-off and what a disappointment! not sure what fish is used, but did not seem too stupid or plaice. The...fish was dry, the teig seemed more like crooked fish that had been fried. I gave the 9 out of ten, but today I would say 3 out of 10 is probably generous. will look for somewhere else to treat the big children!

Whenever I go to the cafe I am always disappointed at the level of service. Staff seem to want to get rid of myself and my little every time we go. I'm not even given help with taking my stuff over to the table when...Im clearly struggling. Serving policy needs to be changed. If it was more like macdonalds and you could choose table service it would be better. The last thing I need is a young member of staff rolling their eyes when Im trying to carry a hot drink, snacks, a number plaque and my little girl. I work in retail and I would never treat my customers like this. Could do better Im afraid to say.
