The portions were plentiful and you could choose between one or two types of meat. They also offered small or regular portions at a very reasonable price. The desserts were varied and came in generous portions. The service was friendly and the setting was cozy and traditional. I would definitely recommend this place without any hesitation.
The value at this restaurant is always excellent. Though the quirky Wheelhouse and the Hume Arms are no longer open, the Swan continues to offer good value. The large fish was indeed large, very fresh, and had excellent batter. We are already making plans for a return visit.
The food at this restaurant is incredible. I was served four large, thick slices of beef with homemade onion gravy, buttery mashed potatoes, peas, and an extra gravy pot on top. It was absolutely delicious and deserving of 5 stars. The homemade ingredients truly set it apart.
We arrived late in the area and asked our Airbnb host whether we could get some take out. He pointed us to the White Swan. Two steak pies with mash and peas, sausages, eggs chips and a chicken tikka served on plates. And all of that at great quality. Well worth the visit.
We have visited several time and had some great meals. However, not so this time. Other half had pork and leek in cider sauce with mash which was below the standard previously experienced, mash was taste less pork was thinly sliced and it came with garden peas no other veg. I had pie which was great as usual. Limited menu since lock down lifted.
