I had been to this restaurant a couple of times pre-COVID and the food was amazing. I am not sure if they have changed ownership, but this time it was not. I ordered a hamburger when about halfway through my tongue detected something hard in the burger. My tongue pulled it out and and it was a plastic bread bag tag. I pointed this out to the waitress and all I received was an apology. No offer for a free meal or dessert. I then ordered a piece of pie, which they are famous for, and it was still frozen in the middle. The men’s bathroom was also extremely dirty. The bucket for dirty paper towels looked like it hadn’t been emptied in days. I am not going back. This is definitely not the same quality of restaurant I visited four years ago. On top it all the meal: hamburger, fries and pie cost me $27.30.
Such a quaint little place. Went there for pie and it did not disappoint! We tried the peanut butter cream pie and the blueberry. The crust on both were amazing and flaky and the peanut butter filling was the perfect amount of peanut butter and fluffiness!Parking: The side we parked on made it a bit difficult to find the door
Fantastic little find on the way back to Calgary from Drumheller. This is a quaint little diner that appears to be family run. They were all warm and attentive. The photos don't look like much but the seasoning was perfect on everything. I ordered the special of chicken milanesa. It was a pounded chicken breast breaded perfectly, topped with sauteed onions, with a side of fries that I could not finish. My lunch partner ordered a small bowl of borscht, which was not very small, and a meal of perogies. The borscht was loaded with vegetables and sausage. The perogies had a perfect cheese filling and sausage on the side. Both of us had a side of coleslaw with a light but creamy dressing. I cant say enough about their seasoning. It was light but perfect. It totally enhanced the food instead of overwhelming it. This place has perfected some very good hearty recipes. We were way too full to try the pies. That is my only regret. This place is one where I would highly recommend if you are near Drumheller and looking for food. It is worth the 30 min drive
Horrible from start to finish. Service and food were both awful. Husband and I both ordered the perogie dinner. They were soggy and covered in some sort of flour tasting gravy. The sausage was mediocre at best. The waitress couldn’t be bothered to ask how our food was, even though my plate was barely touched.
