My wife and I had never been to Asheville, NC, but heard the food scene was spectacular. We were not disappointed… Our Uber driver recommended a few places and Zambra was at the top of their list. Talk about being spot on… we had one of the best meals we have had in a very long time. The menu was filled with something for everyone and we had a hard time narrowing down or selections because we wanted to try everything. We grabbed the coveted “confessional” spot at the bar. It was a nice cozy place where a wonderful person named Lisa took care of us that evening. She was very friendly and helped us make our selections. Her service was impeccable and really completed our evening. Here’s what we ordered complete with pictures: Chilled Corn and Tarragon Soup. Crème Fraiche, Tarragon Oil and Lump Crab. Pomegranate Braised Pork Spring Rolls. Avocado, Cashew Chili Crisp, Mango Mojo. Lamb Albondigas. Tunisian Tomato Sauce, Chickpea and Cucumber Salad, Crumbled Feta, Pistachio. Charred Cauliflower. Spicy Romesco, Salsa Verde, Sunflower Seeds. House Gnocchi Basil, Arugula and Pine Nut Pesto, Sweet Potato, Radish, Capricorn De Cabra and Goat Cheese. And for dessert: Peanut Butter Brownie Peanut Butter Mousse, Toasted Cashew, House Made Bourbon Ice Cream. If we ever visit Asheville again, we would certainly visit this fantastic restaurant again. Thank you for making our trip very enjoyable!
It's been a favored among locals for many many years. Anytime I visit the Asheville area I make an appointment to go to Sombra. Great small bites fun atmosphere and friendly service dine
Beautiful restaurant. Service was outstanding. The sangria we had was good seemed a little pricey for the carafe. The food was all good, nothing blew us away of the dishes we tried, but all was well prepared and presented. It was a fun place to eat while we were visiting Asheville. If you like tapas style, it is good place to go with really nice ambiance and attentive service.
Zambra is fantastic. I’ve heard it referred to as a “poor man’s Curate” but to be honest our meal was perfection and the ambience is so much more up our alley. The menu changes daily and it’s literally less than a minute walk from our place. Plus, because of the national acclaim, Curate is not always easy to get into and in my opinion comes across a little stuffy. None of that at Zambra…vibe is chill and plenty of seating so you can pretty much always walk right on in. Bartenders are knowledgeable and attentive as well…Patrick is friendly and on point. If you find yourself in Asheville, skip Curate and hit this place instead.
