I live in the the north end of Little Compton off west main road. Walker,s farm uses crop cannons to grow their corn, they lease fields next to our community to grow this corn. Crop cannons are used as a bird deterrent . A crop cannon makes a blast very similar to a 12 ga shotgun. Walkers starts their cannons between 5:30 and 6:00 am and run them until 8:00 /8:30 pm every day 7 days /week! They do 4 blasts every 4 to 5 minutes, 14 hours a day .That’s about 840 shotgun blasts per day. They started this year on July 6 2023. it is August 19 and they continue to blast every day. The blasts stop around September 1. That’s about 50,000 shotgun blasts that our community has to listen to every summer! Think about that……..would anyone like to hear 50,000 shotgun blast in July and August ? Many people in our neighborhood leave for the day. Some people have to give tranquilizers to their pets, my dog hides under a bed all day……This effects 40 some odd homes in the north end of town. Walkers refuses to do anything but continue to use the cannons. Many in the community have complained , and Walkers ignores their complaints. There are other options! Dr Brown from URI has developed a laser scarecrow that has very similar results to a crop cannon. Walkers refuses to use them. My ask is that you all BOYCOTT WALKERS FARM STAND! Every one in the South coast loves living in a farm community, but many in our community have had enough with noise pollution. Buy your vegetables from Young’s Farm, or Helger’s farm in Tiverton. They respect the community we live in and use electronic devices to deter birds during the growing season
Decent price for coffees and fresh vegetable and fruits. sweet corn is the best! its way sweeter than the other corns.
What a super variety of fruits and vegetables! It's worth the trip!
The best produce around... Very happy they reopened this year!
