This restaurant is still trying to find its new vibe and it hasn't quite gotten there yet. We have been here 3 or 4 times since it reopened. The whole concept is confusing if you come during the day and want to do wine tasting and have some food. If you are a member, you can wine taste for free in the tasting room, but you can't dine in there. You can dine in the restaurant, but you can't do your member wine tasting there. (You can pay for a flight in the restaurant. The food is getting better and there are now larger portions to choose from (I do wish they would bring the pork chop back . We just had dinner here Friday night and the food, while delicious, was lukewarm at best. We mentioned it to our server, who took it away and brought it back and it still wasn't hot. She mentioned they aren't warming the plates, I think that makes a big difference. The service was great and they comped us a bottle of wine after the 3rd dish came out cold. We really want to see this place succeed since the restaurant choices in Livermore aren't that great, so we'll keep trying and hoping!
The restaurant that used to be operated at this location by Wente Vineyards used to be a lovely place for a high quality meal. Within the past year or so, it appears to have undergone a complete change not only of name but also of quality, value, service and cleanliness and, not for the better! Friends and I (all of us decades long customers) returned to this venue for the first time following its renovation. All of us were sorely disappointed. What used to be extremely well prepared and imaginative food has now given way to a haphazard hodge podge. Over priced and disappointing items; lethargic, poorly trained, ill informed and insufficient wait staff; no tablecloths on the tables (undoubtedly to enhance profits). The charcuterie and cheese plate was a rip off. Puny portions. The charcuterie looked and tasted like it was sorely in need of retirement. Our server had to be repeatedly prodded to tell us what the selections were. She had no clue about the identities of the charcuterie or the cheeses. No bread, even when we asked for a slice or two. Instead, a few stale crackers and some cold badly made gougeres at a hefty additional charge. Carpeting on the floors (important to absorb unwelcome loud voices from other diners) has given way to pressed wood floors. Thus, little to absorb the cacophony from other diners who may have imbibed a bit too much. Difficult to have a conversation with your table mates unless you are prepared to shout. What further eroded our experience is that staff tried to muscle us into over tipping. They seem oblivious to the fact that many guests do not like being coerced into a suggested tip, regardless of the quality of the service they have received. The final straw was the noxious odor emanating from the restrooms and their filth. Nauseating! Clearly, they were not sufficiently ventilated. And, the toilets and floors had not been properly scrubbed or disinfected in a long, long time. When was the last time that the Restaurant Manager conducted a thorough inspection? Was he/she impervious to the pervasive stench? A far cry from the sensitivity and attention to detail that the Wente property had always shown... Sadly, this former gastronomic oasis has lost its sheen. Enhanced profits seem to have motivated the drop in quality, cleanliness and service. We will not return...
We had dined at Wente numerous times in the “old days” and now they have completely renovated their dining establishment and menus. We had four people and ordering is family style. Portions were large and everything was very tasty. The table was definitely too small for four people with several dishes. The vegetarian option was Indian fare. The seafood stew had plenty of fish. There isn’t a bread service. We ordered the cheese puffs but they were served cold and definitely need to be served hot. Corkage is $25. Service is swift and terrific and the atmosphere is inviting. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. Reservations required as they are busy.
Wow...so beautiful and I'm so thankful to have brought my friends with me here, the atmosphere was spectacular, and the service was awesome.I actually went because my girl gave me tickets and trust me it was so special of a night. We had the buffet The food was tasty the chef definitely knows what to cook to entice you.And the desserts. Wow..the peace pie was delicious, not like anything I've ever tasted before. It melted in my mouth. Theres also a sit down dinner I have no idea what that consists of but it definitely has me intrigued. The music is right outside where we are all seated on tables, of 8 to 10 people, such a fabulous way of meeting with your neighbors lol. It's a comfortable and relaxing ambience where you can have conversations with your guests and also turn the chairs around to watch the entertainment too.Theres a variety of different acts that play there, so you definitely should check their calendars to choose the right show for you.Theres tickets on sale on different apps where you can probably find a deal, and they also have season tickets too.Theres a variety of beverages and wines to choose from but that's just not included in the ticket price. What is included is your ticket and dinner.I definitely would recommend wente vineyard for all occasions romantic or just to get away from it all. It's only in Livermore, and it feels like your traveling to another country. You wont be disappointed and you'll be back again once you come to wente vineyard. You'll tell all your friends.
