Maks is much improved under its latest owners. It’s been pretty indifferent until recently. Since Kenny’s closed down years ago this local takeaway tucked away in Bridge Road, seems to have seen a number of people operating it. It’s now as good as it’s ever been, with a good menu.
Mak’s is a great Chinese takeaway. The one star review is very unfair- don’t pay any heed to it. As my local, I’d very much recommend it. They do great noodle snack boxes- which are actually so stuffed I’d take 2 meals to get through them! Also really enjoy the sweet and sour chicken, and the ribs, which are tender and tasty. The staff are friendly and helpful, and hardworking. Currently we are in the easing stage of lockdown (July 2020), but they have changed their entire layout to support health and safety recommendations- there’s a screen the length of the shop and little windows to pass out food etc. Just note they only take cash, not card (has always been the case) Winner of a takeaway- great food- which is why it sometimes gets busy!
Myself and my friends have had food from here a few times in recent months, and it's always been delicious. Portions are big and well priced. Never had to wait more than 15-20 mins for an order. Staff are always friendly and service is provided with a smile.
Had to wait over 45 mins for a takeaway although the lady at reception indicated 25, when I got to eat the food it was just awful. It has since gone in the bin as it simply wasn't edible. Very disappointed as I was convinced the longer wait would mean better food but that wasn't the case!
