The shortbread and cakes on the stand were stale and poor quality. It was way too expensive for what we got. However, the two servers were nice and friendly. The place was not clean, with sticky tables and dirty bathrooms, even in the afternoon. Overall, it's not worth the money.
We stopped by for a few drinks and a bite to eat. The cocktails were great (especially with the 2 for 1 deal) and we loved the vegan katsu chick'n and spicy fries. The staff were friendly and attentive at first, but seemed to lose interest once our food arrived. We would have liked the chance to order more drinks, and noticed other customers being turned away unnecessarily. We had trouble getting someone's attention to pay our bill and leave. Despite this, we still enjoyed our visit and wouldn't let it affect our overall rating, but there is definitely room for improvement in this area.
We made an early booking for a party of 18 on Saturday, February 5th, 2022. We arrived promptly at 7pm, ordered drinks, and placed our food orders by 7.15. Unfortunately, we were seated at mismatched tables, which was not a great start considering our booking was made well in advance. Despite the wait staff being quick to take drink orders, we waited until 8.20 for our food to be served. The quality of the meals was disappointing, with burgers being undercooked and some meat dishes overcooked. My Katsu chicken order also had to be sent back multiple times before being served correctly. We had one of our worst restaurant experiences ever and found the manager to be unhelpful. We asked for the owner's details to provide feedback but never received them. This restaurant in Liverpool should be avoided. We were given a discount of £30 on the bill, which we felt was inadequate given the overall experience.
We came here yesterday for “Punk Tea” a group of 6 friends. I have to say a few of us were gobsmacked at the price for what you get. And I’d have to say the cocktail teapot is mis advertising, it was a good sized teapot full to the top of ice and only enough gin fizz for two tiny delicate china cups between 2. The food was very fragrant, a real attack to the taste buds with each piece, which might be nice for some but not for me and the cheesy chips were horrible! Stunk of cheese and were very salty although one of my friends enjoyed them. When you think what type of meal you could get for £25 this is certainly not worth the money. Will not be going there again.
I recently visited The Baltic Social with a group of friends during our visit to Liverpool. Unfortunately we had an awful experience from start to finish; our drinks arrived cold after being left on the counter, we waited an hour for our food for us to never receive it (even though there were only 2-3 other customer groups at the venue), after asking how long the food would be after 30 40 mins had passed we were informed about 20 mins as it hadn’t been started yet. We then had to ask again half hour later as we had a train to catch and we were met with a pretty shoddy response; that our guess is as good as theirs and ‘what do we want them to do about it?’. They ended up telling us it would be 3 minutes.. however the food failed to arrive and we had to leave. What topped it off was one of the tables who arrived after us ended up receiving their food during our wait. We can appreciate there are times when things happen that may cause a delay (we’re a fairly rational bunch) but the customer service response was not on point. We were surprised as this had been one of the places we had wanted to visit during our weekend but wish we had chosen somewhere else.
