Our daughter was in town this weekend and decided to stop by on Friday. It turned out to be a poor experience. While waiting for a table we decided to head over to the bar for a drink. The girl bartender couldn't even give us suggestions on drink offerings. My wife ordered the espresso martini that looked like watered down coffee and tasted terrible. After waiting 35-40 minutes to be seated, we ordered our food. My wife asked for another drink to replace the espresso martini. It took forever to get the replacement. The server acknowledged that someone else grabbed her drink from the bar. We then waited in excess of 45 minutes for our food. While we were ready to walk out at this point, we decided to stick it out. My wife ordered the schnitzel and the breading was burnt, dry and overcooked. The fries that came with my French dip were cold and soggy, like they had been sitting there for awhile. Our daughter had the chicken pot pie, which she said was good. When it came time to get the bill, the server asked my wife if she wanted a box for leftovers. She didn't want to take home food that wasn't good in the first place. The server then asked if there was anything wrong with the schnitzel to which she explained it was overcooked and dry. He then said he was getting the manager. The manager came over and saw how the food was cooked. She apologized and noted this wasn't their standard. She then adjusted the bill, which was greatly appreciated. A few observations about this experience. It was a Saturday evening and they were busy. People were waiting and they weren't filling the empty tables. It appeared they didn't have enough help to properly serve all tables. The staff were running back and forth and not even talking to each other, as if they were all fairly new and not in a coordinated fashion. The food was not on par as it was from our first visit. We understand it's hard when you don't have enough staff and it clearly showed. Our server was doing his best covering his tables. The manager made things right by adjusting the bill for the problems. Since we had a good experience the first visit and a poor experience on the second visit, we will most likely give Lock and Mule another shot down the road.
The food was delicious, pricing was great, the wheat beers were so good, and the atmosphere was very nice. Highly recommend this spot. We will def be back
We were so overwhelmed with both the ambience, the attention to detail, the service and food. If I can give this more than five stars I would. We had six adults and six children under five. Not always an ideal group for any restaurant on any day. Our waitress Shayla was so attentive to our needs. Thanks Shayla.
Have been to Lock and Mule numerous times. The experience has always been good. Service was great and meals were always very good. Except two weeks ago. Had four person table celebrating a birthday. Overall was not a great night overall by far not the top of the many times at this establishment. I don’t like airing issues in reviews I was texted a survey I took time explaining what was not the best of that night but got no response. Update as of 10/22 nary a peep. Have received no response from neither post the one they texted nor this review. Funny met the owners one visit and they were personable and genuinely concerned about their restaurant and atmosphere. Take marketing does not share that concern.
I've been here twice in the last year and it was delicious. yesterdays visit however made me wonder if I'd be returning. fish tacos didn't meld together well. the sauce didnt quite come through enough or was just made rather than having marinated a while chicken sandwich was good. the fries were just warm and were mostly soft they barely held when picking one up the chicken schnitzel was dry there wasn't much flavor either Whoever was is the kitchen Thursday oct 19th didnt put much love into their dishes is what it seemed.
