A planned meal (or more) on the island. due to the pandemic it is advisable to notify the owner of their orders 2 hours in advance. they must buy the ingredients from the market (this makes their veggie dishes so fresh.)
After two long years without foreign tourists due to Covid, the place may appear a bit worn down and lacking in ambiance. However, we were thrilled to have given it a chance as we enjoyed our freshest and most delicious meals here in Malapascua. Gemma, the owner, is very friendly and even prepared food for our boat trip (where only BBQ options are usually available in the early morning). The pumpkin soup is a must-try and my personal favorite. The portions are huge - a soup, a salad (very fresh), one side, and one main dish are more than enough for two people. The prices are better than other restaurants in the area. Gemma has promised to include more vegetarian/vegan options in the future.
This restaurant was just a short walk from my hotel and I was pleasantly surprised by the off-the-beaten-path location. The food was delicious and there was a great variety to choose from! I tried a mango shake and the fish curry, both of which were amazing. The owner was welcoming and even made sure I had a mosquito burner next to me to prevent any bites. It was a beautiful hidden gem that I would definitely recommend.
The food is delicious but they don't tell you the prices until after you eat. They're also not listed in the menu. I decided to try it out, the amount of food was enough for a small family, and they also charged me for it. I couldn't finish it off, so I gave it to their family. I kinda felt like they did it on purpose as it's a win-win. Again, maybe just tell them up front first! I hope this helps. The soup was great though!
