By far my favorite Udon restaurant in town. Come at the opening 11:30a, as it fills up quickly for weekend lunch. Serves udon in soup and on top either hot or cold. I suggest the spicy chicken Udon hot in winter and cold in summer. That plus a HUGE design beer and you are all set.
Summary: Pretty good. Value is fine. A decent amount of parking in the Strip Mall, but it fills up. Expect a waiting period during the main hours. Quality is excellent. The service is a little slow. My wife and I are not big Udon people, but given the super high ratings, we thought we would try. We had to wait about 15 minutes until a table is open on a weekday evening, then we sat at a table and gave a few free tofu to inflate. We ordered soon and everyone got the curry udon with Tempoura shrimp (and I added fried egg). The noodle structure was pretty good. I'm not saying al dente, but close. The shrimps were excellent and very hot when they first bite. The egg was a beautiful supplement and the broth itself was quite delicious. I only discovered the spicy spices in small glass on the table as soon as my soup was basically done so I don't get to improve my food with it much, but if I came back, I would definitely add a few of them to start. The service was fine. There was either a lack of servers given the number of people (although the restaurant is quite small), or they only had to deal with many requests, or something. We had to fly someone to get the check and get more water.
This place is specialized in Udon. I prefer Ramen to say goodbye personally, but her Udon is so good that I take it over every average ramen place every day. The place fills up quickly during dinner so that they leave the reservation list for you to fill up before they open.
Oh my god! Udon heaven. This place is perfect for your Japanese carb needs. It is pricey for what you're getting but boy is it delicious. Small restaurant that does not take reservations so be prepared to wait.
