The restaurant is big and usually very quiet, so I choose to come here when I'm looking for some local quick dim sum (I live in the area) and to avoid the hussle and bustle that is usually associated with the dim sum experience.
The food was not bad at all. Authentic in most aspects but I suppose I am a fan of dimsum and am Chinese myself so I've tasted better around London. More than anything, the restaurant is quite daunting. Very dated, very badly lit, and dont expect much in way of service. Just go for some relatively decent dimsum, In and out quick, and u should be fine.
We chose China City in search of a quiet lunch and were not disapponted the restaurant was peaceful and the service attentive but unobtrusive the crispy duck was delighful as were the sweet and sour prawns and the vegetarian spring rolls. We enjoyed the luch very much and will return we recommend it as good value and a very good experience. GD
China City Woburn Place near Russell Sq tube was very good. very fresh tasting, delicate flavours, good service and very reasonably priced. The only thing to spoil it is that the tables, which are too big, look like they came from my local snooker club. Nothing against such clubs but everything in its place
China City-Russel Square had friendly efficient staff and comfortable table arrangements. The mixed starters were very nice, however the mains were covered in very sticky artificial sauces (more like take away than restaurant fresh cooked style). Reaonably priced wines.
