Our first evening meal on this London trip. Lovely intimate smart relaxed restaurant. Three course set dinner was excellent with two choices for each course. Light, flavoursome. Excellent cocktails too and excellent service.
We visited The Corner Room today for the first time, and had an absolutely lovely experience. The decorations (a mix of industrial style lamps and plants) were just our style and created a really lovely vibe. There aren't too many tables, which made it more inimate. We're vegetarian and pescatarian, so we chose the fish and veggie option trout and pumpkin pasta respectively which were great; the portions were small as people have mentioned, but that suited us perfectly. We made up for it with the pudding, which was a chocolate fondant. The service was wonderful, the wine was great and they brought us bubbles to celebrate our anniversary. We had a really lovely time, we'll be coming back, and we'd recommend it to others.
We came for dinner and I have to say how underwhelmed and disappointed I was, unfortunately. The service was poor, whereby we had to keep calling the waiters over as they were inattentive, particularly our waiter. They were also out of sight around 75% of the time. I would highly suggest hiring another person as your current system isn’t working. It took at least 15 mins for someone to take our drinks order, one of our party ordered a gin but wasn’t asked if he wanted a mixer so the gin just turned up by it’s self, meaning we then had to flag down the waiter again to ask for a tonic. Once our drinks were finished he also just took our glasses away, trying to take one that still had drink in it and then didn’t ask if we actually wanted any more drinks? It was quite ridiculous when we all had no drinks and our mains were then served and we then had to ask to see the wine list and had to order whilst our dinners were going cold in front of us. We ordered a carafe of the white wine which was a lovely wine but one of us got a red wine glass and the other a white wine glass? Many drinks items on the menu were unavailable for some reason? One of our party was gluten free which another waiter kindly offered to bring some gluten free bread as the rest of the table had some bread which was delicious. It turned up and was just plain white, toasted bread that looked so unappealing as you could tell it had just been defrosted, I would suggest investing in a more appetising gluten free option. We ordered charcuterie boards to start. I would love to know where the meat came from on those boards because honestly I would say it’s the exact same meat you could buy from a supermarket meat selection, it certainly wasn’t worth £10 each. We were all looking forward to the mains but I have to say they were equally as flat as the rest of the meal. One guest had steak and chips and whilst the steak looked nice, the chips looked like deep fried, packet chips, not homemade for sure. The sea bass really was just a sea bass filet, some courgette and some dried, burnt looking potatoes, when costing around £18 it is a little ridiculous. And finally the tagliatelle was a bland, tasteless, oily disappointment. The reason for not speaking up at the time was because it was for my dads birthday and I didn’t want to cause a scene for everyone. Our bill came to £151 even with the government discount. This is not an inexpensive meal and I really would have expected so much more.
Nice place, perfect for a group of friends the food was really nice and the ambience is very hipster and cool. Service could be quicker but it was also quite busy
