The bartenders are creative and more than eager to explain to you the inadequacies of cocktails or whatever new whisky or gin they offer. Go there to really enjoy a special cocktail and listen to someone who is passionate to make it. Stay for the music and New York speaking atmosphere.
This is the second Hix restaurant where I was, and I can say they were both excellent! I went for the pre-theater menu at a very reasonable price of £23. This included beautifully delicate pieces of Squid for the starter and perfectly cooked monks for the main course. What was the star of the show for me was the pudding, gooseberry cake with elderflower ice cream. Although the ice cream was one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth, I still find nostalgic elements to serve the dishes. The pastry on the cake was just like my grandmothers, I had discovered this before the tramshed, where I had a few jagged cakes that tasted as if she had cooked them that day. The filling throughout the chicken reminds me to pick herbs in the garden for them as a child.
Nothing special. Never again. Bad food, no ambience. Mcdonalds here I come
Great service, fresh fish chips staff very attentive
Not surprised to hear that this branch closes as soon as it lacks energy and feels tired and in the need of a clean food was ok, but service was unfortunately not in the standard of other Mark Hix restaurants
