However, it was unfortunate that the restaurant was fully booked and I didn't see anyone else working except for the waitress. We waited over an hour for our food, which was difficult with my 92-year-old grandfather present. I ordered the only vegetarian option on the menu, a veggie burger, which arrived completely burned black. It was served with a few burnt fries and after waiting 10 minutes, I had to ask for ketchup to choke it down. Despite wanting to ask for something else, I didn't want to inconvenience the waitress and wait another hour. This was the worst experience I've ever had at a Swiss Chalet, and I've been to them in four different provinces. I understand being short-staffed, but I don't understand serving such terrible food and then charging full price for it (essentially hoping the customer won't complain about the subpar meal).
My elderly parents, aged 82, went to Swiss Chalet at the Highbury location in London on Sunday, November 14th. They showed their vaccination records and proper ID, but were turned away because the staff claimed their paperwork was a copy and not from the government website. The general manager, Dave, was unhelpful and suggested they could have easily forged the documents. My parents dine at Swiss Chalet frequently and have never had an issue before. My wife was upset and called the restaurant to address the situation, but they denied any proof of vaccination despite my mother showing it previously. It is ridiculous to think that two elderly individuals would go through the trouble of falsifying documents just to eat at a restaurant. Dave's behavior towards my parents was unacceptable and my father decided they would dine elsewhere. When my wife tried to discuss this with the restaurant directly, they advised her to leave a review. This review reflects our disappointing experience at Swiss Chalet.
We received a warm welcome as we were escorted to our table, where we were informed that appetizers were 2 for $8. The tables were nicely spaced and the service was efficient. We asked about a CAA discount and were told we could choose between a free appetizer or a free dessert. We decided on the 2 for $8 deal and also took a slice of Pecan Pie home to share later. The hot and crispy spring rolls with Sweet Thai Chili Dip were delicious, so we ordered a second helping to go. Our order of 1/4 chicken dinner came with a mix of dark and white meat, but we received 2 pieces of dark meat instead. The waitress apologized for the mix-up. The portions of dark meat seemed small, but overall it was a decent meal for $10.99. The BBQ chicken was consistent as always, served with shoe-string fries and chalet sauce that was a bit salty. The whole grain beans were fresh and crunchy, while the Coleslaw was a generous portion and creamy. The restaurant we originally planned to go to was closed, but Swiss Chalet proved to be a reliable alternative.
Order online for 6 people for delivery. First the driver came and tortured the order on my desk along with my reception and literally out of the door. Next, they didn't send any of our lunch orders. When I called to report our missing lunch, they wanted to bring us the food, but there was no time. The others have already eaten. They wanted to give us a loan next time. You couldn't refund my credit card, but if I wanted, I could get a refund! The man at the other end of the phone has beaten me pretty much. Finally, he said someone could deliver our refund. The same rude supplier returned the refund and low and behold, they refunded us for less than we paid for the thing! My employee didn't say to call her back. But what's going on? Absolutely no sense of customer service at this Swiss Chalet location, as far as I am concerned! #seeyounever
Generally doing great. I would recomend though that kitchen staff wear gloves at all times when they can. It was noticed they don't, and that hands that are not clean may come into contact with customer food. I would say to be vigilent on this...at all times, as this is a food and safety and hygiene issue. When things get busy more vigilance is required The general service and food quality is improved, great job
