First time visit to Lupitas , we both had the fish and the shrimp tacos, very good. It's busy do expect to spend 30 minutes waiting in line. It's worth watching the cooking done in front of you as you place your order. Cheap prices and good food. Courtyard seating. It's fun going there. Seems it's all self service, but worth the experience.
Snowbirds start lining up before Lupita's is open. I love the shrimp tacos and my husband loves the fish tacos. Tamales are available, too. The tamales are fat and juicy, still wrapped in corn husks. Rice and beans are not available. Sodas and water can be purchased. Their small kitchen is right there. This is an outdoor stand where you wait while your food is prepared before your eyes and served piping hot. You move to a table with condiments including pickled onions. The crema for shrimp is good as are their salsas. A few tables are in an inner courtyard surrounded by vendors. Lupita's isn't fancy, but the tacos are delicious. For some reason, the sister stand in the Yuma Foothills isn't as good. The vendors aren't pushy in the courtyard. Skip El Rancherita across the street and eat here.
We stop here every time we go to Algodonas. They have the best Shrimp Tacos and Tamales we have ever had! Lots of Shrimp in the tacos and the Tamales are the largest you will ever see usually. But beware - there is a large green olive in each one with the pit still in it. But makes me hungry just thinking about them. We always buy extra to bring home.
This place is a must stop ..just a small stand but the tamales are amazing and quesadilla asadas are perfect and fish tacos to die for great prices friendly service
