Don't pay attention to the sawdust on the floor—just go ahead and try the lamb or pork dishes with the robust bleu cheese. You won't regret it!
I ordered the double sandwich, and I recall reading another review where someone regretted choosing it. The server mentioned that most people prefer to dip their sandwiches twice. Personally, I like to dip my own sandwich, so if you're looking for something less soggy than the single or double dip, I suggest asking for the sauce on the side. The sauce is quite spicy! The sandwich costs around $11.72 now. I recommend giving it a try at least once; there's nothing to lose!
The au jus was incredibly tasty, and the restaurant had the usual quirky downtown crowd. I’d say the cake was nice, but I didn’t get to try much of it since my girlfriend nearly finished it all! We dipped the beef in a French roll, and we even saved half a sandwich for our roommate, which was still delicious. I think my colleague has a better spot, but I’m skeptical she’s changed the recipe in 100 years, so it’s all good.
This restaurant offers very affordable prices for Los Angeles. The potato salad has a sweeter taste. They serve thinly sliced beef, and the lines move quickly. If you're in a rush, be aware that this place tends to get really busy.
