After being a huge fan of their original location, I decided to try out their new spot and it exceeded my expectations! It was hard to top the amazing food they used to serve at the old spot, but they definitely did.
The food at this restaurant is top-notch and the service is excellent. The atmosphere is welcoming and pleasant. The drinks are fantastic, and the moonshine pairs perfectly with the food.
I dined here recently with a friend. This establishment is situated on a street corner in downtown Loveland. It doesn't look like much when viewed from the outside. However, when stepping inside, you're transported to a place in NOLA. I was very impressed with how the interior of Betta Gumbo is decorated. Whoever the interior decorator is, great job! This establishment has a host or hostess station where they seat you at a table and a waiter or waitress takes your order. It's not the type of place where you order your food and you pick it up at an area near the ordering station. At each table, they have Crystal hot sauce (a favorite of mine) and another hot sauce from Colombia. There is plenty of seating. I visited on a Saturday early evening and it wasn't too crowded. Reservations aren't recommended. Although, it wouldn't hurt, just to be on the safe side. A waitress arrived at our table shortly after I arrived, took my drink order then delivered it shortly afterwards. For an appetizer, we ordered Fried Green Tomatoes that comes with a delicious dipping sauce. Fried Green Tomatoes were okay but the dipping sauce made it delightful. For my entree, I ordered the Catfish Louisiane. You can order the catfish fried or blackened. The catfish is smothered in a crawfish tails smothered in a Étouffée sauce. This dish didn't have much flavor to it. I felt that it was mediocre. My friend's dish looked impressive. She ordered a piece of fish with salad that comes with two sides. For the sides, she ordered red beans with rice and potato salad. Also, the sides are huge! I was told that the sides didn't have much flavor to them. The appetizer with entree was sufficient for me. I was full. I didn't order dessert. I felt that dessert would've put me over the edge with being too full. The desserts looked and seemed delicious. However, glad I passed on them. Being that this place is far away from me, I wouldn't dine here again. It was nice to visit Loveland and see the downtown area but I most likely wouldn't return. So glad I visited here. I felt the food was average, service okay, cleanliness outstanding, and the decor exceptional. If your'e in the area, check it out for yourself and see what you think.
My first stop at their new location after being a big fan of #1, and it is Mo Betta!!!! That wasn't easy, because its predecessor was a special food experience. A bigger location yields more options to celebrate a Cajun vibe, and they nailed it. Better Gumbo is as much about the visit as it is about the quality food. Fun stuff all around. I enjoyed my visit quite a bit and loved how they took it to another level of excellence, one of the best dining experiences in the Denver area. Loved the Gumbo Bowl, and the Shrimp and Grits was a big winner for the love of my life. Lavender Slaw? Yes! Fried Green Tomatoes just killed it. Charles was a high-quality server and fun as hell.
