This is a small, but exceptional bakery in Lucca, Italy. We had the best focaccia in the world: the corn focaccia! The baker offered us to taste their traditional, flat focaccia, drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with salt. We couldn't resist, had to have both!
I stumbled upon Forno Francesco Casali during my visit to the enchanting town of Lucca and it was an experience like no other. Undoubtedly, it serves the best focaccia I’ve ever tasted! The combination of Conte Ham with ricotta cream cheese and herbs was heavenly. The charm of the place doesn’t stop at the food. I was assisted by the friendliest ladies who, despite our language barriers, made the experience delightful with sign language, laughter, and genuine Tuscan warmth. Yes, there was a queue, and while it may look daunting at first glance, I assure you, every minute waited is rewarded tenfold once you bite into that glorious focaccia. Lucca itself is a gem in Tuscany, exuding beauty, history, and an undeniable sense of community. Forno Francesco Casali epitomizes this spirit. If you ever find yourself in Lucca, make it your mission to visit this store. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you!
As a tourist in an unknown town , I would always like to find bakeries like the 'Forno Casali '. It is In the city centre, just a little walk from the main touristic attraction (only 100 m from the Torre Guinigi , and it is a lovely but not a touristic shop. There you can find local people (and around 12 a.m. until 13 13.30 pm you can find A LOT of local people . It is a bakery, and obviously the main products are bread and 'focaccia ': but you find a so great variety of bread and focaccia that it is very difficult to choose. You can also get focaccia with slices of ham. salami or 'mortadella ' (try it! . On Saturday, in 'winter ' time, if you are lucky, you can find also a wonderful 'buccellato ' (the only buccellato I like .
