Il Brigante Maino - LUCOLI

This restaurant is a culinary gem so much so that we ate here 4 out of 5 days while skiing in Campo Felice. The bar upstairs provides a warm place to escape the snow, savour an aromatic coffee, local beer, wine or one of the...plentiful grappa 's stocked, chat to the welcoming owners, Roman families returning from a day skiing and congregating local villagers. The main restaurant is downstairs and although unassuming is spotlessly clean, warm and full of local charm and accents. The menu is a good size and has a good range of local fare, locally sourced seasonal delicacies and ingredients and is changed daily, they also do Pizzas on certain days of the weekend. Myself not included we had 3 vegetarians in our group and the restaurant paid special attention to create ad-hoc dishes to satisfy them which I thought was truly gracious of them, real hospitality! The cheeses and cold cuts were divine, as were the pasta 's, steaks and every item we ordered. The chef here is obviously vastly knowledgabe and also can be experimental if requested which is nice to see in a seemingly traditional restaurant, the vegetarian lasagna created was a culinary work of art with the butternut squash puree and gorgonzola cream cheese is something you would expect to be served in the chic dining halls of Rome or Milan. The wine selection is vast and very well priced as are the amaro 's and grappa 's we mainly stuck to the local reds and whites and did our best to drink them out of stock they were so delicious. The Service as I have already mentioned is on point, very professional and friendly and they really do everything to accommodate the guest while being chatty and informative, they even allowed us to bring our dog that sat quietly under the table awaiting the bistecca bones from my plate. Like Campo Felice skiing territory itself Il Brigante Maino is a hidden gem and I will definitely be returning as soon as possible to savour more of they 're culinary and hospitality tour de force! Kitchen and quality raw materials. I did not allocate the fifth star for the limited number of regional specialties compared to the number of dishes on the menu. I recommend the wild boar with apple.
