Lugarno Seafood Restaurant

A Hidden gem in Lugarno, is the Lugarno seafood restaurant. I suspect it is a local secret. The restaurant sits at the end of forest rd, overlooking serene George's river. On a Saturday, the place is filled with ladies enjoying high tea. Several family groups like ours, enjoy an intimate and attentive service. The atmosphere is slightly old school, no fuss and the food is pleasing all around. There is a full bar and wall full of wines, The oldies love that they can find traditional no fuss steak and seafood dishes, the kids can enjoy satisfying kids menu choices of calamari, nuggets, schnitzel) For diners new to the restaurant like me, I liked that the menu consists of some new twists to old favourites. Mackerels and other gorgeous seafood, and luscious crayfish. Unfortunately we didn't try dessert but I feel that we might be back the next time we are looking for a serene water view local restaurant that is formal enough to impress but relaxed enough to not have to bling myself head to toe

We decided to take our mother to Lugarno Seafood Restaurant for a Mother 's Day dinner. I had my reservations given that both my sister and I fell ill last time we ate there however my mother my insistent. We made an early reservation to beat the dinner crowds; only 2-3 groups were there when we arrived. From the outset, our designated waitperson was rude and quite abrupt. My mother was asking questions about the snapper dish and he said to her, 'if you don 't want it then you don 't have to order it madam '. I was quite shocked with his manner and approach to my mother, notably since it was meant to be her special day. Following on from this service, he told us that there were over 200 people arriving that evening. To me, this comment was a subtle indication that we should not stay too long. On at least 3 occasions he tried to remove our plates, even when it was obvious that we had no finished. My mother said to him, 'excuse me, we have not finished our food yet ', to which he replied, 'your mains are ready now '. The entire dinner felt rushed, and the service was unwelcoming. In addition, I ordered a coke, he brought me a pepsi. When I brought it to his attention he was abrupt and took some time to get me the drink I had ordered. (Note: they serve 125ml of coke for $4.50- unbelievable). When we asked him a question about the greek salad we had ordered, given it was $15 and contained mostly letters, 2 small pieces of tomato and 2 pieces of cucumber, he stated that 'this is what we serve '. Although the main meals were fantastic, the appalling service and poor entrees and salads made this an unpleasant experience. We paid a lot of money and were very disappointed. We will never go there again.

Firstly I don’t understand people coming on here complaining about the price. You should read the menu and enquire about pricing if you are on a budget. I only look at reviews to see how the food tasted. I pay $400 and above easily for a meal when I’m with my husband only but expect to pay that much if I’m ordering platters and cocktails and anything else that’s pricey (clearly priced on the menu before ordering). Lugarno seafood in my opinion, is the freshest tastiest seafood in Sydney. I’ve been going to this restaurant for years and never have I ever been disappointed. The waiters are mature and older in age so you won’t get a teenager that will forget your meal or is thinking about checking their Instagram. I’ve only been when there has been valet parking and if the parking is too full just give the valet assistant a tip, it won’t break the bank and he will gladly park your car further away and walk the distance to bring it back for you when it’s time to leave. They are always busy and that’s for a good reason. Love this restaurant and if it were closer to where I lived I’d eat there more often as they have a variety of food not just seafood.

No parking, Very expensive, Tired building and very serious wait staff. Apart from our particular waiter, all the others were less than friendly and seemed not to care about their customers. A disappointing meal all round.

Never a disappointing moment at Lugarnos seafood. Exceptional service, mouth watering food, lovely lunch time views or dinner at sunset on that river make it such a pretty spot. My daughter and I share the same date for our birthdays and every year as a family we all go for our birthday lunch. We love the day off work/school indulging in great food getting totally spoilt.
