I had a traditional dish from Puglia: orecchiette con cime di rape. The fresh pasta was good: simple, yet tasty. Minor issue: to use the bathroom, you have to walk trough the kitchen, which is nog very hygienic.
The heat of summer in Lecce does not dispose one towards patience, and yet, as the only customer I had to wait over half an hour for my order, as, in the meantime, the waitstaff puffed away at cigarettes to make the atmosphere even more unbearable. Despite this, the lovely orecchiette al cime di rape was excellent. I can’t say as much for the regional speciality, a roasted octopus pucce. Meat pies with an underdone and dry pastry cover, suffer much in comparison to meat pies in puff pastry.
My partner and I arrived in Lecce, and Betty's was the first place that caught our eye. We stopped for lunch here and had some delightful Pizza and home made Lasagne. The service was absolutely fantastic too. Lovely people we highly recommend! :
Personale simpaticissimo e locale accogliente. Ottimo locale per pause brevi
Arrived for a late lunch and asked about pastas. They made a lasagna and a plate of orrechhetti with ragu di pomodori. Just hit and spot. We returned for dinner to enjoy two different versions of their puccia one with meatballs and ragu and the other with polpi roasted, burrata and grilled red onions. Simple and absolutely delicious!
