Hush puppies are great, and served with honey butter. Served 3 piece chicken with two sides and a large basket of hush puppies and a drink for $12 total, surprisingly inexpensive on a Friday night. Service was friendly, and enjoyed hearing the family’s history. Looking forward to returning. Thank you! My traveling father instilled in his kids, Avoid the chains. Eat locally to support small businesses and get an idea of the area. I live by this motto AND have taught my son the same. My father 's spirit was with me yesterday as I visited Lumberton NC where he once lived and taught. Family owned Roy 's Country Corral is a blessing to a weary traveler. Not only because of the eclectic atmosphere of Indian artifacts, local memorabilia, and family photos within a log cabin, this dining joint is welcoming! The hostess 's smile and joyful seating manner, to the server 's beauty and attentiveness, even if the food wasn 't delicious, I would have stayed. I sat next to a table of 8; locals discussing the well being of their neighbors while enjoying fried catfish, pork chops, and delicious looking chicken. Encouraged by the aroma, I ordered the BBQ Pork Platter asking to substitute the fries for hushpuppies. Hushpuppies are meant to be sweet fried corn pillows to balance the BBQ and hot sauce southerners must use. WONDERFUL puppies at Roy 's! Coleslaw passed my requirements too YUMMY! The plentiful platter of pork was moist, flavorful, and a little bit of char for those crunchy niblets! YES! But the piéce de résistance was the double cheeseburger! I bought it for my traveling companion so it was To Go! When he opened the package, he freaked! This burger is hand crafted yumminess! As big as four Big Macs ! but in contrast, Roy 's burger tastes like real burger meat ! surrounded by gooey, melted cheese. And without asking the kitchen dressed it with tomato, lettuce, mayo AND coleslaw! He LOVED it proving Chef knows best! Why any Lumberton er or traveler would buy fast food or try to be satisfied anywhere else, I can not comprehend their logic! What a great surprise! Visit Roy 's Thursday to Thursday to Saturday! Fun, filling, and delectable! Thank you, Wanda the Saturday crew! Kid friendliness: A history lesson as you roam throughout the property. A pool of imagination flows over the mind just while sitting at the table. So much fun!
