The Chequers Pub - Luton

Popped in here early evening on a Saturday. The food menu is written on a white board propped up on the bar which is very handy because as dishes become unavailable they are wiped from the board. Very popular (because by the time my husband and I arrived there were plenty gaps on the menu)! I chose saltfish, rice peas and my husband opted for the jerk chicken, rice peas. Huge delicious home made portions served in an informal bar setting with red stipe other lagers are available on tap to wash it all down. Nice to go somewhere unique with friendly regulars enjoying a warm summer's evening in a British Caribbean pub!

This restaurant serves the best jerk dishes for miles around. It is family-run with super friendly and lovely staff. The jerk chicken is authentic and delicious, and the jerk pork literally melts in your mouth. You can taste the years of experience in their cooking. A must-visit if you are in Luton.

I am usually very critical when it comes to reviews, but this place truly deserves a fantastic one. It is a genuine Jamaican pub with excellent food and service. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is perfect for all occasions, whether you're looking for a typical Jamaican reggae night on Saturday or a relaxing family Sunday lunch. It's wonderful to see them preserving Jamaican culture while also ensuring their success in the long run.

The prices are reasonable and they offer a variety of food options. It is a welcoming place for families, couples, and friends, although it may not be the best choice for children.

I liked the chicken and the fish and chips, both were delicious! I think the food is Jamaican styled, highly recommeded
