Country Cooking - Lynchburg

Irene has been feeding people like family for ages: great Southern food, with huge helpings, served simply. Breakfast and lunch are equally good. Though what keeps me coming back is her Thursdays-only meatloaf. I'm drooling just thinking about it.

Irene's food is the stuff of dreams. Her bacon egg potatoes platter (with a biscuit) is my favorite. Sometimes a long line but well worth the wait.

Ms. Irene offers authentic home-style cooking. I've been a loyal customer for nearly 30 years, and her meals are so delicious that they almost demand a nap afterwards!

The homemade food was excellent, the customer service was outstanding, and the prices were quite reasonable.

Now, the potatoes were truly special—they nearly brought me to tears, as they tasted just like my late mother's homemade version (I might have shed a tear). I haven't had fried potatoes this good in over three years, despite my numerous attempts to find something similar. This charming little spot is tucked away in the back of the market, and I highly recommend checking it out if you're in the area. I know it's just food, but thank you for providing exactly what I needed this morning!
