Great pizza. Probably my favorite in the area. If you are looking for a classic NJ pizzeria slice, that is where you go. It is not all that it is not just good old school solid pizza that is safe to impress. And that says a lot in the northern NJ where there is no lack of solid pizza.
My wife and I moved to the area a few months ago and when we discovered Josie we quickly became regular. Because of the pandemic, we only delivered them, but the food is phenomenal. We have already settled in our usual order and find no cause to explore the menu so much, but we can definitely say we LOVE the Pastas. At my 2nd last visit I went to get the food (us usual and the bill was much higher than normal. I asked the young woman behind the counter and she reacted quickly that prices rose and they ordered new menus, but they did not come. Good enough, I thought there was a lack of meat, meat producers have increased their prices and so all restaurants increase their prices. No big deal, I paid the unexpectedly higher price and went home and enjoyed my quality food. I was still worried about how important the price increase was and how I was concerned. My last visit, while we were tired of the price increase, we still love their food and want to support Josie 's all the same, so we order our usual again. I wanted to pick it up and the price went to $4. That seemed really strange and I started asking myself about the price increase last time. I checked with the young woman behind the counter (another from the previous time about the new pricing and she confirmed that she changed the prices and came new menus. Now I could be pretty sure that in a week the prices didn't suddenly decrease, so something was up. I paid, thanks to the young woman, took my food home and ate. At dinner, I thought about our $4 dilemma. I went through the food we ordered in my head, and then it hit me. At the first visit I was charged for a garlic bread as it was a la carte when it actually came with my chicken parm dinner. If your prices change and new menus are not yet available to the customer, the customer cannot be responsible for knowing what things cost. This responsibility lies in the restaurant and the young woman behind the counter at our second last visit was responsible for the knowledge we ordered and what it costs. We are quite frustrated that we were charged an extra $4 and don't get anything for it. It's just $4 and it doesn't break the bank for us, but it feels like a deception. If new menus were available at one of my previous visits, I would have found out the problem myself and resolved it in the restaurant. But because new menus were 't available waiting staff needed to increase it because customers rely on them to know what the things cost and also what comes with the meal versus what ordered a la carte. Sufficient to say, we are disappointed that the waiting staff made such a carefree mistake during this visit and that 's the reason we give Josie 's only 3 stars. 5 stars for food, 1 star for service. Update: I had tried to reach the owners several times and by various means, and they were both inaccessible and not responsible
Excellent pizza? and they do much for the community!
Grilled chicken caesar pizza was amazing. Garlic knots for the most part delicious, but some pieces were a tad too crispy (not burnt) . A bit pricey, but due to inflation it's understandable. It still beats other pizzerias I've tried in this neighborhood. Would recommend. My parents were also surprised to find great pizza considering it's even hard to find decent pizza in NY now. Will definitely support this delicious establishment.
