We did not find this place safe as...but it was near our hotel. we wanted a short walk and not a big production. the front of the house is an energetic one woman show. our French command was bad, but she pulled the slate menu... from the way and turned it up on a chair so we could get our lust. a court sounded good, but I am a pas de moutarde (no senf kerl). no problem, she told her man to make another sauce. voila! it's obviously a couple that runs the business. the food was delicious and cheap. our hostess was quick and sometimes cured, but she brought a smile and entertaining stream to this local dinner.
We have been on the road for a long time (returning from the station, and we stopped in the restaurant. we just wanted coffee, but once we sat down, my wife decided to eat something. in any case, the restaurant would be only. meal times, not only coffee. (That's a law?) they had two menus: menu du jour and the more expensive menu lyonnaise . we have chosen the former to share. I had made for entree veloute de chou-fleur (creamy cauliflower soup , for plat (mainly my wife chose tete de veau, (a cut should be made from calfs sauce. we divided self-mord de chocolat (sucide of chocolat). for my part the suppe was good, the dessert excellent, woman liked the main course. the total bill without drinks for the menu was 17 euro. a glass cote de rhone (red wine was 4 euro, while a small bottle evian water was 3 euro. note that this is a small restaurant, with a server. the evening menu is more expensive (approx. 26 euro)
The personal was friendly. I was asking for clad you jour. 13 euro, average for here. salad was really nice. court ok. worth the price; that is it.
We had a great week long stay in Lyon and tried a new place to eat every day and night, all was fantastic until the evening we chose this restaurant. The maitre D who was very nice showed us to a table inside and gave...us a menu to peruse, eventually one of the waiters came and slammed a carafe of water and some bread on the table and went away without talking or offering an aperitif, another 10 minutes saw him return and take our order using the minimum words possible to accomplish this. We had the main course and then waited another 20 mins to have the plates cleared away and then again waited for a desert order to be taken, we didn't bother with coffee as it was getting late. I watched the unhelpful waiter taking payments at the till and without a word of thanks or even an au revoir to three sets of diners our turn came to pay, and he took our payment without a word, i guess he wasn't too happy in his job?? Apart from this episode the rest of the stay in Lyon was really a wondrous experience and i can recommend it to anyone.
