Delicious foods and amazing fine cuisine, but additional 20% service fees were not normal practice and expectation
Nicely decorated. The food is great and the staff is well served. Prices are somewhat high as average, but the meal is pleasant. Cosy surroundings.
New branch of the old restaurant Galo of Taipa. Much cleaner and comfortable. The steak with creamy sauce is absolutely delicious!
Galo opened a second restaurant on the Macau Peninsula a couple years back. This is a good place for casual and pretty good Portuguese meal in the city centre. The restaurant is located along Calcado do Tronco Velho just to the southwest of Senado Square behind the Leal Senado building. Opening hours are 12pm to 10.30pm daily. Dining area is that of a traditional Portuguese restaurant with respective decor. Staff are friendly, service timely and menu is an expected range of dishes. During a recent meal here I had a half order (3 piece) of bacalhau (cod fish balls) which tasted just fine, These were nicely fried, plenty of cod mixed with spring onion and potato filling. I also tried their minchi, a classic Macanese dish of minced pork stir fried with onion and a bit of soy sauce, served with fried potatoes, egg and a cup of rice. This is a simple dish, well-prepared and filling. It tasted pretty good as well. In the end, not my favourite place in Macau for Portuguese or Macanese dishes but still a good option, conveniently located for those sightseeing around the Historic Centre of Macau.
